Methuen, Massachusetts is a town in Plymouth County, New England, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boston–Worcester-Framingham Combined Statistical Area. Methuen is one of the oldest towns in New England and was organized on December 17th, 1636 by Puritans from Northampton County. The church that first worshipped here was Great South Church which burned down in 1824 but was rebuilt and named after Methuen Street. In addition to its churches and theaters, Methuen has several large factories located there like Carrier Corporation, Wolcott Corporation and Pfeffer Glass Company as well as numerous small businesses. The town also has 2 high schools (Methuen High School & Plymouth Middle School) along with 3 elementary schools including one for students who are not able to attend school because they live too far away or because they cannot afford it (Northampton Elementary School). Methuen is known for its apple orchards and its cheese Factory which manufactures both blue cheese sauce and white cheese sauce. In recent years, Methuen has become home to a number of golf courses such as Hiking Trails Golf Course & Lakeshore Country Club which offer great views of the surrounding countryside while still being within walking distance of most activities; however it should be noted that Hiking Trails Golf Course does have a driving range available for those looking to improve their swing! Additionally, the town hosts two large annual festivals each fall entitled "Festival Fayre" outdoors where residents can enjoy many local vendors; as well as an indoor event every summer that features local artisans from all over New England!

Methuen, Massachusetts is a town in Plymouth County, Massachusetts. The population was 2,946 at the 2010 census. The name Methuen comes from the Wampanoag word mehitun, meaning "to trade." The town was first settled by English colonists in 1630 as part of what is now Plymouth County. It became a separate town on December 15, 1781 when it merged with neighboring Ashland. Methuen was incorporated as a village on April 14, 1853. In 1916 the town lost its status as an incorporated village and became a part of the new city of Plymouth. Methuen has two primary schools: Bethel School District (grades K-12) and Plympton-Plymouth Regional Vocational Technical School (grades 9-12). There are also several private schools that serve the community including Phillips Exeter Academy (grades 11-12), Brookline Academical Institution (grades 9-12), and Westfield Montessori School (ages 3 to 12). In addition to its two primary schools and several private schools, Methuen also has one middle school which serves grades 7 through 10: Dover Middle School. As of fall 2010 there were 1,636 students enrolled in Methuen High School; however this number may change due to openings or closings of various programs within the school district

The town grew rapidly, thanks to its access to water resources and its location on the Seacoast. In 1853, Methuen became a city after it was annexed by Boston.
