He also manufactured his own BB guns. The first BB guns were made with metal barrels and used pellet ammunition. By 1925, Berger had moved his business to 147 Thatcher Street. There he continued to sell his firearms, along with ammunition and instruction books on how to use his devices. From 1926-1927, Berger produced a handgun called the "Patriot". It featured a 10 round magazine and was designed for self-defense purposes only. In 1928, Berger opened an ammunition store at 247 Main Street which became one of the largest in town. From 1929-1930, he produced another handgun called the "Teddy Bear." This firearm featured a 12 round magazine and was designed for hunting or target shooting purposes only. In 1931-1932, Harry Berger died from pneumonia at the age of 63 years old after many years of business expansion in Melrose . His son John continued father's legacy by becoming president of The Gables Hotel Gun Shop from 1934 until his death in 1984

Downtown business district redevelopment began after World War II with newly built housing developments such as Park Plaza (1948), Stonington Square (1953), and Beacon Hill Court (1963). Downtown development continued through the early 21st century with new shopping centers including SouthPark Mall (2002), Fenway Park Marketplace (2005), Quincy Market (2007), and North End Shopping Center (2009). These pistols employed air-cooled metal barrels fitted with nickel magazines capable of holding up to twenty rounds per handgun while still being able to fire live rounds. Melrose has two sister towns: Acton and Arlington Heights. Acton is located east of Boston, while Arlington Heights is located west of Boston.
