This store served as the nucleus around which many subsequent businesses developed in the town over the years. In 1914, Airgun Company was founded by Wm Hennepin and it became one of America’s leading manufacturers of airguns and shotgun shells (except for rifles). Airgun Company manufactured over 4 million firearms including shotguns, pistols and ammo products used by hunters all over America until it closed its doors in 1978. Melrose, Massachusetts is a small town in north central Massachusetts. It is one of the wealthiest towns in the state and has been called "the most beautiful town on earth." The population was 8,500 at the 2010 census. The first settlement in Melrose was made during the 16th century by some English colonists who were looking for a new home after fleeing their native country. The first deed to land in what is now Melrose was given by Sir Edmund Andros, 1st Baronet to his brother-in-law John Eliot on October 12, 1627. In 1773, when Samuel Adams founded Boston's first grocery store and also began to grow wheat for bread, he decided to move his business to what is now Melrose from Quincy because of its more advantageous location near highways. In 1837, when Congress created a national bank inBoston, it chose Melrose as its initial site because of its distances from other cities and its close proximity to major transportation arteries such as the railroad and river systems. A post office called "Milton" was established in 1836; it changed its name to "Melrose" in 1868. The town started receiving mail from Quincy beginning on July 15, 1840; it became an independent city on January 1, 1888. On November 14, 1865 United States Colored Troops invaded Vermont with plans to march southward into Massachusetts under the pretext of protecting freed slaves being transported there from Georgia (then part of South Carolina) via that state's southern border. When they reached Milton they discovered that all houses had been burned down so that no one could be taken prisoner or held against their will as slaves! A local militia detachment led by Captain James Wigglesworth attacked and repulsed these well-armed black soldiers while residents took refuge inside their homes until assistance arrived from militiamen stationed nearby (it turned out that only a few white men had actually accompany Ulysses S Grant's forces). A plaque located at Route 9W about two miles east of downtown commemorates this event which helped solidify Milton's reputation among residents as anAnti slaveholding community capable of fighting off any attempt by raiders or whites seeking retribution

In 1916, a new high school, Holy Cross High School (now Holy Cross University), was built on land that had been owned by local developer John Fitch. A fire destroyed much of downtown Worcester in 1922, but business continued as usual until 1923 when a new library building was erected on Main Street which still stands today. The original structure burned down in 1936; however, the current library building replaced it for budgetary reasons only three years later! In 1938, Enrico Lusardi opened his successful Italian restaurant called "Pollo e Pesce" (Poultry andFish) which has since become one of Worcester's most popular businesses ever! The growth of malls throughout New England during the late 1980s led to more people moving into towns such as Melrose as they found more opportunities for job opportunity outside their homes than inside their town limits - this trend accelerated during the early 2000s when online shopping became increasingly popularized across all types of businesses across America (including those located within urban areas). However, although many people have moved into rural towns such as Melrose during these times,[citation needed], there are still many residents here who maintain strong ties to their hometown including weekly farmer's markets or car wash outings!
Melrose was founded in 1793 by John Morse and his wife, Eliza. It became a town in 1837 and was annexed to Boston in 1846.
