The first gun target in Medford was a blacksmith shop on Meeting Street. The second was the old post office on High Street, which burned down in 1836. The third was the Armory on Elm street, which first opened its doors in 1839.
Medford, Massachusetts is a small town located in southeastern Massachusetts. The population was 9,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA metropolitan area and is adjacent to Springfield, MA. The town has a rich history dating back to 1636 when it was founded by Puritans who were fleeing religious persecution in England. Medford has been inhabited by humans since before they arrived in America; evidence suggests that people lived here for as long as 10,000 years. The first Europeans to visit Medford were Spanish colonists who landed on Cape Cod in 1602. After landing on the cape, they built Fort Santa Elena de la Vega which served as a control point for their ships sailing along the coast of Massachusetts. The fort became known as San Felipe de Cardenas after its Spanish governor. In 1636, English Puritans arrived in what is now Medford and quickly set about establishing themselves here. They named their settlement "Medford" after one of their own number, John Medway (1592-1647). For many years this community functioned primarily as a farming stopover on the way between Boston and Cambridge while larger towns such as Quincy and South Hadley grew up around them. During the Revolutionary War (1775-83),medford played an important role as a supply center due to its location midway between Boston and New York City. In 1779, during Battle of Bunker Hill (June 7th), British troops under General Howe attempted to storm through town Gatehouse Square towards Breed’s Hill but were repelled with heavy casualties against only six men from Medford’s company Forbes’ regiment killed and ninety two wounded including eight officers and twenty five privates from Captain Higginson’s company of marines! This action helped maintain British control over northeastern Massachusetts until after his death at Saratoga Springs in 1781! After the Revolution ended there was little demand for agriculture so farmers turned their attention to other crops such wheat, rye etc., leaving behind large amounts of abandoned equipment and tools scattered throughout the town square today still used by local residents today! Over time much of this equipment was repaired or replaced with newer technology but some items have simply been left behind like an old tractor still stored inside an abandoned building! Today's Medina Elementary School serving grades PreK-4 occupies one end of what once was Frontier Avenue which ran perpendicular to Valley Road/Highway 2/Route 128/Medina Drive today still retains its pioneer spirit with games night every weeknight preceding dinnertime

Medford, Massachusetts is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. The population was 21,713 at the 2010 census. The name of the town is from the Medford area which was originally part of Salem. The first permanent settler in what is now Medford was Nicholas Pynchon in 1798. In 1825, Jeptha Bates purchased land here and founded Batesville on it. In 1828, Samuel Gridley settled here and began to grow grain crops. He named the new settlement after himself, Gridley's Mill or "Gridley's Landing". In 1830, John Green settled here and began to make hay for cattle. He also named his new settlement after himself, Green's Corners or "Greene's Corner". In 1835-36, Ebenezer Douglass built a mill on the river near where he lived and started to grind corn there. By 1840, more than 50 people were living in Medford. In 1851-52, John Ayer founded Ayerstown on about two acres of property he bought along with some other settlers near present day Springfield MA from Reverend Amos Kendall in order to provide better transportation for goods between Springfield and Boston through watercraft only route then existing at that time
