After years of struggle against British rule, Lynn emerged as one of America's most successful independent cities –a status that continued until 1959 when it reverted back to Massachusetts after she became an embarrassment to her new state government following her participation in India’s national independence movement. Following World War II, Lynn experienced rapid growth as millions relocated there to seek jobs in postwar manufacturing plants and services sectors; however, much like many other US towns throughout these decadesLynn also saw significant reductions in its population due to birth rates among young adults seeking higher-paying jobs outside their home town than could be found thereaboutspending their less-enriched teenage years living with their parents or grandparents rather than moving out into their own neighborhoods or finding work themselvesialthough some recent arrivals have helped revive businesses local residents say are struggling without help from outsiders

The first mayor of Lynn was Philip Van Ness. In 1855, the town became an incorporated municipality. The city council was created in 1959 and the mayor is now an elected official with a four-year term. The history of Lynn goes back to when people began moving into what is now the townsquare area around 1700 AD. Early settlers lived near where they currently sit and they hunted and gathered food from surrounding woods and fields. By 1800, there were enough residents living in what is now Lynn to form a government under the name “Farming Village” which consisted of nine local men plus two representatives from Boston tea party members who had been banished to Salem County for refusing to worship at Mount Auburn Baptist Church; this village continued until 1768 when it merged with nearby Marblehead due to lack of space). In 1825, investors decided that they would establish a new town square in order to increase trade opportunities between Lynn and Boston due to rapidly increasing transportation costs caused by construction projects going on throughout New England at that time including Samuel Adams’s recently built canal linking Boston with New York City as well as other major cities across North America during this period (see also “The Mayflower: A History”). On November 14th, 1825 – one week after General James Kieft donated land for the square – Mayor Philips Van Ness announced thatLynn would be its own municipality separate from Marblehead which had formed sixteen years earlier (see also map below). This decision set off excitement within the community as many felt like they could finally become their own country! And so on January 1st, 1826 – just one year after incorporation – Mayor Philips Van Ness renamedLynn “Milton” in honor of his childhood home located about three miles away on Table Rock Road (now part ofRoute 128)). This move solidified Milton asthe centerofpopulation for much later on as other towns tried variouslyto claim this moniker over time such as Billerica which formed shortly thereafter (and eventually merged with Burlington), Reverewhich didn’t join until 1903 (!), Woburnwhich only became operationalin 1918 (!), Falmouth which dissolved following World War II (!), Great Barringtonwhich only functioned until 1961 (!),and Grotonwhich disbanded following Hurricane Agnes in 1995!!! Today, Milton remains an important partof Lynnmichigan due both physically and economically because it hosts several high-level governmental offices such as state government services (such as taxation) along with many small businesses primarily involved in agriculture or health care/scientific research including IBM Global Research Center - East Asia Pacific Region headquarters - which sits directly on Route 128 next door to IMAX theatres!!! It should be noted that even though these days most jobs are located outsideOfMilton proper (), many businesses still operate within its boundaries doing everythingfrom grocery stores1O medical offices2O engineering firms3O law enforcement agencies4 etc…. There has never been a single job loss reported within Milton itself anywhere NEither during norafterthe economic recession startingin 2008!! .
