Leominster, Massachusetts is a town located in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 25,528 at the 2010 census. It is the largest community in Middlesex County and the ninth-largest municipality in Massachusetts. The town is named for Leominster General Court Judge Samuel Leominster (1763-1837). The first people to live in what is now Leominster were two groups of Native Americans who lived on the border of present day Leominster and Woburn. They called their land "the Land of the Tenants" because they only rented out part of it to white men. In 1793, British soldiers burned down a cabin belonging to one of these groups, driving all the occupants away. In 1821, a group of Dutch settlers arrived in what is now Leominster and founded a small village around what is now Meeting House Street. This village became known as "New Amsterdam". After New Amsterdam was destroyed by fire in 1636, its inhabitants decided to move to another location and founded what would become Leominster. Leominster was chartered as a town on February 15th, 1825 by order of Governor Elihu Burrall. At that time it had a population of 3362 residents and consisted only of six buildings: an inn/ tavern called the White Horse Tavern; three gristmills; one sawmill; and one blacksmith shop. The first mayor was John Aiken (1827–28). It wasn't until 1872 that Stonington Township - which included much of modern day Leominster - joined forces with Leominstersville to form what would eventually be called Middlesex County. That same year saw the opening of Park Avenue School which served grades K-8 from its inception until 1922 when it moved into neighboring Springfield Township's school system. Today Park Avenue School serves as both an academy school and high school located within walking distance from most residents while still providing access through public transportation to both campuses

Leominster, Massachusetts is a town in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 9,521 at the 2010 census. Its name comes from the Leominster Place of Wading Heights in Winthrop County. The town straddles the border of Plymouth and Everett Counties, with Everett lying to its south and Plymouth to its north. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 32 square miles (87 km²), all of it land. The first permanent inhabitants of what is now Leominster were three men who landed onstable Island in 1636 by means of their canoe and paddled ashore: William Bradford (1608-1672), Samuel Gridley (1581-1668) and John Winthrop (1584-1647). They built a small house there which they named "Waning Heights". In 1638 John Winthrop again visited this site when he wasGovernor of Massachusetts Bay Colony; he erected an addition to the original house which still stands today as part of the State House Annex in Boston. The first school in Leominster took place on April 6th, 1639 under Governor Cotton's instruction. That same year Samuel Gridley organized a meeting at his home where he proposed that one acre be set apart for each family to cultivate corn ground or pasture during planting season; this idea was followed up by others and soon tracts were being sold throughout Leominster for raising crops. By 1641 much land had been dedicated to agriculture with people using canals for transportation as well as irrigation systems bringing fresh water from marshes nearby. One early settler who lived in Leominster during this time was Nicholas Easton (c1600-c1726). After moving from London England he settled near present day Northwick Park where he built a large brick manor house that still stands today known as "Easton House". He also raised hogs, sheep and cows there until his death in 1726 at age 91 years old. Another early resident who Significant contributions towards development within Leominster were two schoolteachers - Ebenezer Glanville (died 1801) and Nathaniel Dallesborough (1793-1876). Glanville taught 3rd grade through 1812 while Dallesborough taught 7th through 12th grades beginning February 1st1827 until his retirement after 54 years teaching public schools in Worcester County IL.. It should be noted that not all early settlers contribute equally towards village growth however these individuals exhibited pioneer spirit and dedication which has helped make contemporary aspects such as commerce, industry & technology integration etc possible within our community In 1792 Nicholas Easton's great grandson Ebenezer Glanville donated land east of Main Street between Washington Avenue & South Main Street for what would become the Northeast High School building later known as Eliot Hall Glanville also donated money towards purchasing 2 more acres northwest corner of Washington Ave & Meridian St., originally part of Manor Farmstead belonging to Reverend Jonathan Edwards who resided there with his family prior thereto This additional property later became home to both Eliot Hall Memorial Library/College since 1957
