Leominster is a town in Massachusetts, United States. The population was 20,536 at the 2010 census. It is the largest town in Plymouth County and one of its most populous municipalities. The name Leominster comes from the prefix "lem" which means "a place where there are apples" and "minster" which means market or fairground. The first settler in what is now Leominster was John Lemoine who arrived on October 12, 1636. He named his new settlement after his father-in-law Sir Edmund Moody who had come to England earlier that year as part of an entourage led by King Philip IV of Spain with the goal of discovering new routes to India. The original village located near today's intersection of Route 128 and Newbury Road was burned down by the British during their occupation of Boston during the American Revolution in 1775. A new village was built on land grant given to Samuel Seaton by General Nathaniel Howe on November 3, 1775. The cornerstone for this structure was laid on December 7th under heavy snow conditions by local resident Nathan Hale with local minister Drayson Wigglesworth officiating. The first meeting of the select committee appointed to build a courthouse took place on January 9th, 1776 at which time it was decided that a building could not be erected within a year due to difficulties obtaining funding from various sources including contributions from several thousand people who subscribed to a petition calling for independence from Great Britain. In 1812 Leominster residents voted unanimously (via ballot) not to incorporate as a town because they felt it would be easier and faster for them if they were all concentrated within one municipality instead of having multiple governments operating simultaneously within their borders. This decision saw Leominster grow rapidly becoming one of Plymouth County's most populous towns with over 25,000 residents by 1830 when it incorporated as a city under charter granted by Governor Andrew Johnson). During World War II many businesses owners closed their doors because they couldn't get enough wartime production going; however many others such as Electrolux followed suit shortly thereafter when war became too expensive for them to continue producing products despite being able to sell abroad before Pearl Harbor without interruption (this phenomena also known as 'the wartime boom'). Many small business owners did not have closure policies like these so unfortunately some aspects of everyday life during those years remain largely unchanged even 50 years later such as long lines at grocery stores or wait times for doctor appointments etc..

Leominster is a town in Massachusetts, United States. The population was 6,842 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Leominster-Newton School District. The town was first settled in 1636 by Puritans who were seeking to escape religious persecution in England. The name "Leominster" comes from the word lemuel, meaning "a small hillock." The original mill on the river near where Leominster now stands was built by Nicholas Overseer in 1641. In 1789, one of Leominster's two markets opened and continued operation until 1828 when it closed due to financial difficulties. From 1829 to 1838, lemons were grown here for use as a fertilizer for cornfields throughout New England. In 1886, local farmers founded what is now known as the Boston Tea Party Museum in honor of those who took part in the event that caused Great Britain to lose its independence from Colonial America. In 1935, Leominster became an incorporated town and adopted a new constitution which stated that "No person shall be compelled or induced to vote or contribute any money towards electioneering purposes." In 1941, during World War II, many businesses closed their doors because they could not get enough supplies for war effort; however, most reopened after the war ended. On July 15th, 1942 – just days before Japan attacked Pearl Harbor – Leominster residents gathered around their city hall square with Mayor John Hitchcock (1913-2009) and other leaders to inaugurate a new street named after Lt.-Gov Willis Lattimore (1892-1964). This amendment had been proposed by Mrs. Evelyn Matson (1902-1997), widow of Colston Jewell Matson (1863-1945), father of actress Shirley Temple Griffin (1915-1989). Mrs. Matson had served on various committees associated with commemorating Pearl Harbor and planned her husband’s funeral service on December 7th following his death at age 92 years old . On November 12th 1942 Japanese forces bombed Pearl Harbor resulting in over 1 hundred casualties including twenty three children killed along with their mother while she was cleaning up debris aftermath of attack
The town of Leominster is located in the Massachusetts Bay Area and has a population of over 100,000. The town was founded in 1764 by General James Cornwallis as part of the British war effort to control the territory between New England and Canada. After the Treaty of Paris was signed in 1783, Leominster became part of Boston. It lost its status as a town when it was annexed byBoston in 1836.
