In 1936, modern day airports were built adjacent to downtown Lawrence by Airport Development Corporation Ltd.; this airport now serves as home to major air carriers such as Delta Airlines and US Airways among others as well as smaller airlines such as JetBlue Airways. With so many businesses existing within one mile radius of each other it was necessary to develop both an open space policy for all businesses within walking distance called "Annex Park" which still remains today one of Downtown's most popular destinations for pedestrians/cyclists/arathers alike! One recent development that has had a significant impact on Larryians lifeblood is new construction on Main Street known locally simply as "The Drive". This large mixed use project totaling more than $100 million contains several high end restaurants including Hooters Pizza & wings ($25 million) along with numerous housing units ranging from starter homes up to luxury condos!
