Haverhill, Massachusetts is a town located in the towns of Haverhill and Bedford, Massachusetts. As of the 2010 census, the population was 12,898. The name "Haverhill" derives from the English word "havre", meaning "to have". The town lies on the southern border of Bedford County and is bordered by Hampshire County to the east and west. The first settlers in what would become Haverhill were two groups of Puritans who arrived from England in 1636. They founded a small community called Northfield which they left behind after a few years when they realized that their land could not support them permanently. In 1639, another group of Protestant Puritans arrived from England and named their new settlement after Lord Haverhill (the son of King Charles I). This group eventually became known as Haverhill because it lay near where Parliament House now stands. In 1720, when Massachusetts became an independent country under George Washington's rule, Haverhill reverted to its original name - Northfield. During World War II much activity took place at nearby Fort Monmouth which served as both an air-base for RAF Bomber Command and Headquarters for United States Forces in Europe (USFET). Many buildings still standing today date back to those wartime days including Air Force Station Monmouth – home to NATO's Allied Expeditionary Force during Operation Overlord – as well as Guard Barracks No 2 (now part of Brown University) and Garrison Barracks No 3 (now part of Dartmouth College). According to the 2000 census there are 11 males per 1 female living in town & village combined! This imbalance has led some people to believe that our overall lack thereof sex ratio may be due moreso to our high rates Of caloric intake than anything else! Accordingly, we will be working hard next year to increase our representation on this important document!

Haverhill, Massachusetts was founded in 1723 by John Smith and his brother, Nicholas. Haverhill became a town in 1825. The town was named for its first settler, Samuel Haverhill. The town had a population of about 100 people when it was founded. By 1800, the population had increased to over 1,000 people. In 1836, the town had a population of 2,500 people and it reached 3,000 in 1870. At the time of its incorporation as a borough in 1903, the population of Haverhill was 10,526 people. In 1960, Haverhill had a population of 14,532 people and it reached 15,827 in 2000. As of 2010 the total resident population is 23,362 people. In colonial times there were two villages within what is now Haverhill: Northampton and Westwick Village (later part of Watertown). Northampton village included parts of present-day Wellesley and Quincy; Westwick Village included most of present-day Hampshire (now Amherst) and also included some land eastward to Springfield that would later become part of Miltonbury township (now North Adams). The first mention that we have from early on is from 1624 when Cotton Mather noted "A place called Heywood" lay near Boston but he does not give any indication as to what this may mean or where it might be located exactly other than giving it some description such as being "a very large square piece [of land]". It wasn't until after Plymouth Plantation arrived in America that Massachusettes began developing into their current form with many small towns popping up all around Worcester County starting with Southborough then quickly expanding outwards into Essex County before finally reaching Suffolk County which includes today's downtown area including Federal Hill along the riverfront where John Adams lived during his presidency prior to moving back upstate to White House grounds which eventually became known as Presidents' Park after him. The original settlers were primarily Sephardic Jews who immigrated from Spain under Portuguese rule at around this time so much so that there are still traces remaining today including synagogues found throughout central Boston as well as Spanish moss growing on old courthouse walls! It wasn't until after King George II granted Royal Assent for American independence did many more Englishmen begin arrive however due mostly to factors such as religious persecution at home rather then anything economic like

In 1837, the town voted to create a state bank and became one of the first cash-based economies in the United States. The city of Lowell took over much of what Haverhill had left behind after the war. In 1865, Haverhill became part of the new Commonwealth of Massachusetts when it was granted statehood. It continued to grow during Reconstruction and through the late 19th century into a major industrial center with heavy reliance ontextiles, engineering and manufacturing exports. Haverhill experienced significant growth following World War II as a result of rising demand for engineers, technicians and other skilled workers in defense industries such as aircraft production, shipbuilding and munitions manufacturing. However, by 2000s Haverhill's economy had begun to decline due to increased competition from larger cities such as Boston and Lowell. In 2016, Haverhill merged with Lowell to become an official city within the new Lowell municipality
