Gloucester, Massachusetts is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 21,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield–Springfield Junction Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was first settled by English colonists in 1630. It grew rapidly during the 1800s and reached its peak as an agricultural center with a heavy reliance on cotton production until the early 20th century when it began to lose importance due to suburbanization and other economic changes. In recent years, Gloucester has regained some of its former prominence as a bedroom community for Springfield. The history of Gloucester begins with English colonists who arrived in 1630. At first they were farmers but soon realized that they needed more money to purchase land and start up businesses such as stores and churches. By 1720, there were over 100 households living in Gloucestertown alone and by 1790 there were over 1,500 residents living in the town limits). At that time, both Holland and England were still very much under Spanish rule which meant that most people had no choice but to sell their possessions or work off their land to pay taxes or buy goods from Spain. This caused many people in England to leave their homes for new opportunities so when Dutch settlers moved into what was then British America (present-day New York), they decided to move too – especially since they could get better prices for land there than anywhere else on Earth (due largely to Dutch involvement in international trade). It wasn’t until after King George III took control of America that things changed again; now all colonies were given representation within Parliamentarianism which gave them more power and rights than before. However unlike today where almost every store stocks whatever is available regardless of price point (or lack thereof), back then families would typically have one milling flour while others ground corn or beans etc.) So while not all businesses operated this way back then – some did quite well doing so simply because they had deeper pockets 🙂

The first master-builder of Worcester had his house built near the junction of North Main and South Hampshire Streets in what is now Downtown Worcester. In 1798, when Worcester was chartered as a city, an act of the General Court gave its first mayoralty to John Glover (1768–1837). The community that developed around downtown Worcester soon outgrew Glocester and became known as "the Metropolis of New England." By 1800, Glocester's population had grown to nearly 10,000 people; it remained this size until 1898 when it shrunk to 7,814 due to racial restrictions placed on white settlement in Boston. After having lost its monopoly on wool exporting through unfair methods during the late 18th century, Gloucester regained its position by 1830 with the opening of Boston's new harbor district which led to more exports coming into town. In 1835 Glocester had become one of only two towns in Massachusetts without a school system; however this changed with the opening of Glocester School District No. 1 on October 28th that same year which replaced much smaller districts all over the state within just a few years! In 1841 William Higginson (1800-1876) becameGloucester's first postmaster and started mail service between Gloucester and West Roxbury MA also starting up phone service some time later! On November 2nd 1851 William Congdon took office asGloucester’s 3rd mayor after being elected President Judge for Middlesex County! During World War I veteran James Jarrell (a native of Gloucester) served as an ambulance driver for Company D 151st Aero Squadron RAF based at Bovington Airfield RAF about 12 miles east west south inside present day Everett Common Shopping Center off exit 9A off Interstate 90 exiting I-95 North
