Ammunition history in Fall River, Massachusetts began with the early settlers who came to the area in the 17th century. The first shot heard in Fall River was fired by a man named John Smith on November 7, 1621. Ammunition stores were built along the river for defense and trade. In 1812, Captain Amos Flanders of HMS "Bulwark" brought over 1,200 rounds of ammunition from England for use against French warships at Norfolk. This event is considered to be the beginning of ammunition production in Fall River. In 1865, Captain James Fenton purchased land north of the river and began manufacturing rifle cartridges here. From 1870 until 1896, ammunition production took place at the Fenton Manufacturing Company which employed up to 240 workers. A new factory was opened in 1935 at what is now known as Waddell Place after Lieutenant Colonel Edwin Cady Waddell, who served as executive director of munitions research at MIT during World War II. Waddell Place produced both artillery projectiles and jet fuel cartridges for planes and tanks. Fall River has been an important center for ammo production since its beginnings. Today, Fall River produces more than two million rounds of ammunition per day including Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) munitions destined for Vietnam and Cambodia

The Fall River Pistol Club was organized in 1892. The club served as a meeting place for pistolners from around the town and district. In 1897, the club motioned to form its own rifle range, and in 1898 opened with twelve rifles. The club continued to operate its own range until 1911 when it merged with the Fall River Rifle Association to become the Fall River Rifle and Pistol Club. Anson Manton, a local farmer, donated land on which the current rifle range is located. The property was leased by the club from Mr. Hurd in 1926-1927 for use as their shooting fields. In 1941, NRA membership totaled 1,500 members; however, due to World War II restrictions on ammunition sales and possession, only revolver rounds were available for purchase by NRA members. From 1951-1973 all rounds were available for purchase through NRA member clubs statewide (except Massachusetts). From 1973-1991 all rounds were available through state clubs only (except MA). Purchasing rounds became an option again after 1991 when NRA membership decreased statewide to under 10K . . . They arrived at what is now Fall River on October 12th, 1598 rafting over the Sayle Falls near present day Granby. They named their new settlement Portsmouth because it was near Portsmouth , England where they had been living before setting out on their journey.(1) In 1764 an act was passed by Congress which provided for a township to be formed within Middlesex County for "the benefit of inhabitants of said county."(2) On December 7th, 1765 (3) John Chapman announced his will that he had land south ofpresent day Hopkinton which he desired to divide between himself and two other gentlemen friends named James Bowdoin and Nathanielourge.(4) It didn't take long for some settlers to build themselves homes on this land - within 10 months after Chapman's death three houses had been erected.(5) It wasn't until January 1st, 1766 when Mr .John Davenport laid off Lots 3 & 4 (now known as Prospect Street), described as follows: "One hundred acres lying westwardly about one mile square.... bounded by Goodman Streets on one side and Broadway on another." These weapons were not very effective, so early humans had to find other ways to kill their enemies. They developed new methods of killing animals by stabbing them through the heart or lungs with spears or arrows. As technology improved, humans began to use more powerful firearms that could shoot projectiles at high speeds. This led to the development of artillery which was able to launch shells at long distances for destruction or scouting purposes. Ammunition development progressed over time and eventually arrived at what is known today as ammunition type A (projectiles). Projectiles can be fired from any type of firearm, but they are most commonly fired from cannons and rifles. Ammunition type A was originally created for military use and was designed to shoot large objects like cannon balls, arrows, bullets, or shell fragments far away from defenders. It was also much more powerful than other types of ammunition because it could shot multiple rounds per second! However, as violence increased throughout history, people began to demand less powerful projectiles that could still be effective against targets up close. As a result, ammunition type B (lasers) became popularized in the late 1800s after being invented by Nicholas-Jacques Conte in 1827! Lasers are marginally more powerful thanprojectiles used in earlier periods but can still fire several rounds per second! They can also be fired from guns that have firing keys that allow youto cock the weapon before launching each round! This allows you to control how many rounds are fired each time!

Captain John Winslow also named his community after Admiral Samuel Eliot Morison who commanded American forces during World War II at HMB-191 (later USS Yorktown), which was sunk by Japanese gunfire off Cape Cod on December 7th 1944 while amphibiously attacking Kure Atoll During World War II many USS Yorktown crewmen were interned here with their families before being sent home to America
