The town experienced heavy bombing during the war - particularly during the Blitz - but overall little damage was done. However, following 9/11 attacks in America which caused extensive destruction across New England including much of Amherst and North Attleboro, many people within Easthampton began pressing for greater security measures in theirtown despite some challenges related to zoning laws andoning restrictions on building heights etc., which hampered development potential for years afterwards; eventually leading to formal public protests against government policy towards homeland security until recently especially after reports emerged about plans by local businesses seeking exemption from such regulations altogether) .
