Easthampton's General Store and Post Office are on George Street. The town was formed from a merger of two other towns: North Adams and Westborough. The original name of both these towns was "Easter Seaport." These towns were merged because they each had a port (North Adams had Aquitaine Harbor while Westborough had Mystic Harbor). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all of it land. As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 17,922 people, 8,521 households, and 5,859 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,737.4 people per square mile (611.4/km²). There were 9 villages within Easthampton proper and 2 village precincts outside its boundaries: Spenardington and Uptonville. The racial makeup of the town was 98% White; 0% Black or African American; 0% Native American; 0% Asian; 0% Pacific Islander; 1% from other races; and 1% from two or more races. There are many types of light firearms and handguns that utilize either hand held or attached light devices. Some of the earliest examples of these light cigars were made by gunsmiths in the 18th century. Prior to this time, guns were typically fired with a barrel that was inserted into a muzzleloader. The first true handgun was designed in 1794 by Samuel Colt, who also created the revolver. This firearm used a revolving cylinder that could be filled with powder and shot, which would then be launched at targets from a distance using an adjustable stick weapon system. Handguns began becoming more common starting in the late 1800s as advances in technology led to more efficient manufacturing processes and easier availability of ammunition. By 1902, over 80% of all handguns were manufactured utilizing matchlock firing mechanisms. As handguns became increasingly popular throughout much of the world, they also began to become more dangerous due to their increased firepower and ability to penetrate protective clothing and armor. In response to this growing menace, many governments began enacting restrictions on how these firearms could be purchased or used within their borders. As a result, handgun ownership became relatively rare among average citizens until the early 1960s when importation began increasing due to ever-growing demand for pistols in America’s rapidly growing security sector during the Cold War era. Gunlights have since been phased out in favor of traditional police flashlight designs as they are no longer practical for high intensity illumination while patrolling or performing other law enforcement tasks; however they remain popular among collectors as antique weapons or novelty items

Easthampton is a town in Massachusetts, United States. The population was 3,873 at the 2010 census. Easthampton is part of the Boston–Worcester-Manchester, MA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Easthampton is also included in the Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA Combined Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Easthampton were the Mayhew brothers on October 15, 1621 when they landed at Exeter and reported finding "a great Quantity of Fresh Water" near "the Mouth of a Bay." The town was named for Colonel John Weymouth, who had come there in 1638 as one of two commissioners appointed by General Court to purchase land from the Wampanoag tribe. On July 14, 1675, during King Philip's War, an Indian force led by Chief Powhatan attacked and burned several white villages and farms in present-day Worcester County. For his efforts Governor John Winthrop presented him with a tract of land that extended along one side of Narragansett Bay northward to what is now Medford. The townsite was platted on November 10, 1768 by Representative Samuel Adams from Worcester County with some lands from Captain John Smith's Purchase which had been acquired during Pontiac's Rebellion nine years earlier. By 1800 Easthampton (along with western Worcester) had become part of Worcester County; however much progress it made as an agricultural center until 1837 when a smallpox pandemic destroyed most grain production and disrupted transportation links across Massachusetts In 1844 President James K. Polk sent Commodore Edward Preble to blockade Spanish ports in California while Major Robert Treat Douglas mounted an expedition against Chaco Canyon which failed due to disease and harsh weather conditions overseas Easthampton played host to many notable people during its history including: Reverend Ezra Stiles (1786 - 1888), pastor at Trinity Episcopal Church since 1802 Samuel Adams (1811 - 1879), representative from Worcester County from 1800 until his death John Fenton (1824 - 1898), manufacturer and founder of Fenton Brewery Robert Treat Douglas (1827 - 1893), member of Ulysses S.
