The history of Chelsea, Massachusetts can be traced back to the early 1600s when English colonists first arrived in this area. The town was originally named only Newburyport, but it was renamed Chelsea in 1825 after the nearby village of Chelsea. Chelsea is located on the eastern bank of the Charles River, which makes it a convenient location for commerce and trade. The town has had a number of different names over the years, including Westchester County, New York; Hopkinton; and Quincy.
Chelsea, Massachusetts is a small town located in Westchester County, New York. The population was 382 at the 2010 census. Chelsea is considered to be one of the most-esteemed towns in Upstate New York. The town was founded in 1784 by Nicholas Murray Butler and became a part of New York State in 1821. It experienced rapid growth following the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825 and began to enjoy a high level of social and economic development throughout the 19th century. In 1898, Chelsea merged with neighboring townillus, making it one municipality. Since its incorporation as a village in 1892, Chelsea has been through several iterations including an increase from 2 to 14 residents per square mile (0.8 to 6 per km²) during the 1950s; a decrease back to 12 residents per square mile (0.6 per km²) during the 1970s; and finally an increase back up to 16 residents per square mile (1 per km²) during the 1990s followed by another decrease back down to 14 residents per square mile (-1/km²)during 2000-2010. The current Village form was first approved by voters on November 3rd, 2014 with plans for construction starting Bergen Hill Estates soon after! The Village Plan calls for: 1 new Elementary School building - currently under construction on Town River Road between US Highway 9W & CR 4804; this school will serve grades PreK-5th grade along with an additional Adult Education program that will offer evening classes beginning fall 2019 semester; 2 new High Schools - One serving students from grades 7th-12th along with three career academies which offer certificates or degrees leading towards licensure as nurses or health aides opportunities – currently under construction across from each other on Route 9W just east of Route 403; future expansion possibilities are endless! The earliest bullets were made from lead or other heavy materials to make them fast enough to travel through enemy armor, but this caused high casualties due to their destructive power. In the 1850s, a new type of bullet was designed called an “illegible” bullet which could not be read by humans but still killed its intended target. This allowed for gunfirefights between armies where both sides needed accurate weaponry in order to victory. By the 1880s, different types of bullets had been developed which improved accuracy and survivability on the battlefield. The 1885 Side Loading Rifle Bullets were particularly successful in allowing soldiers on horseback to fire accurately while also remaining mounted. This led to increased use of cavalry units in wars throughout history, giving them an edge against infantry forces.

The town of Chelsea, Massachusetts was founded in 1722 by Captain John Winthrop and his wife, Elizabeth. The town was named after their daughter, Chelsea. The first permanent settler in Chelsea was Nicholas Doane, who built a cabin on the east side of the village in 1727. In 1738, Captain John Smith and his men explored Chelsea while on a trading expedition along the eastern seaboard. They note that there is no evidence of habitation near where they found the ruins of an early white settlement that they called "Chelsea." However, because it seemed like every other place they searched during their journey, they decided to name the new settlement after their exploratory discovery instead. After arriving in Chelsea on November 8th of that year[1], Smith's group began building a stockadedFort at what is now North Park Avenue. At first only men were allowed to enter and explore the fort; later women also arrived. In 1744, Boston Mayor Thomas Hutchinson authorized construction of a better fortification forChelsea which became known as Fort George during its construction period from December 1st through May 6th[2]. On March 22nd of that year[3], King George III granted Royal Assent to HMS Constitution (later HMS Victory) carrying supplies for Boston Harbor under English flag with Admiral Vernon as captain general commanding[4]. This event signaled commencement of British rule over Boston Bay.[5] Shortly thereafter Lieutenant Governor Edward Rutland appointed Colonel Josiah Quincy as Commissioner for Public Works to design and oversee all public works within Stamford Village including Soldier's Hill Road between Hyde Park Corner and Westown Avenue,[6] Coles Point Road between South Street and East Street,[7] Manor House Road between Manor House Lane and White Settlement Lane)[8] Commodore John Graves Simcoe arrived at Stamford from Kingston with HM Ships Scarborough and Romney before sailing up harbor on September 5th[9][10]. On October 4th [11], Simcoe sailed his ships into Boston Harbor looking for landings suitable for an army he had been ordered to raise against France[12],[13]. He anchored offpresent-day Beacon Hill when he sighted two large piles of stones some 20 feet high lying about three miles inland from present-day Arlington Cemetery. From this point forward until 1814 most events taking place withinBoston took place just outside or around what is now Fenway Park reflecting British colonial control overmuch of New England
