The first firearms used sights, or pointers, to help shooters identify their targets. After the development of better sighting technology, firearms became more accurate with each new model released. The earliest sighting devices were called "pointers." These were simple devices that consisted of a piece of wood or metal that was pointed out at an angle so that it could be hit by someone standing behind it. A person would hold onto the pointer and wait for someone else to shoot at the target from close range. If successful, the pointer would return back to the owner's hand and they could continue firing as long as they had good aim! Iron sights developed around 1775 when Nicholas-Jacques Conte designed a sight for his French Napoleon military rifle. This invention allowed soldiers to fire accurately at long ranges without having to reload frequently. After this time, different types of Firearms were created with different barrels and Ammunition Types required specific optics in order for effective shooting results (such as muzzleloader). As Technology progressed so did gun designs; eventually we arrived at today's Gun Sights! The original name for the town was "Fenway". It changed to Brockton in 1817 after Jonathan Brockman donated land for the village and town center. In 1911, a waterworks system was built to provide potable water for all residents of Plymouth County including Brockton. This project increased growth in the town as more people began living near an easily accessible supply of water than they did before. Today, there are several restaurants and stores within walking distance of most homes in Brockton while also being minutes away from shopping facilities such as malls and highways outside of town limits or on Route 2 (the old Turnpike).

One such bet was between the Spanish Empire and Portugal over who could build the largest fortress – Castelo de Santa Cruz – first. The Portuguese fort was built near Salvador da Bahia in Brazil, but Spain eventually won because its location on a major trade route made it vulnerable to attack from pirates. Gun sights also began appearing on battlefields during this time period. On December 15, 1765, General George Washington arrived at Bunker Hill and ordered all British troops out ofBoston and into barracks along with any Loyalists who had not already left or been deported. The Battle of Bunker Hill ended with British forces retreating towards Cambridge while American forces fought on against overwhelming odds for nearly two hours before surrendering without battle. After the Revolution, Brockton grew rapidly due to its strategic location near highways leading into Boston and its close proximity to other towns in Middlesex County including Amherst and Lexington. By 1802, it had reached its current population size with over 12 miles (19 km) of road connecting it to other municipalities within Middlesex County as well as Worcester County across the river in Massachusetts proper. In 1814-1815 an Act was passed providing for incorporation as a village; however this did not happen until 1835 when an act entitled "An Act for Establishing a Village Within the limits aforesaid" was passed by the Legislature which provided for Brockton's establishment as a village underthe name "Brockton".
