The main street in town is called Main Street because it once served as the only route into and out of town for farmers and their animals untilRoute 128 became available in the early 21st century. Agriculture still plays a strong role in life here; however, today's residents are more likely to work in downtown Boston or outside of town altogether. One thing that has not changed much over time is Brockton's love affair with music; since its incorporation as a town, BrockTON has always been home to several professional bands who play live venues throughout the year including Café Tacuba and The Paper Kites Bandstand which are just two examples!

Brockton, Massachusetts is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 20,752 at the 2010 census. Brockton is one of the oldest settlements in Massachusetts and has been inhabited since 1630. The town was first named Woburn after John Woolford who had settled there in 1630. In 1753, Brockton became part of the Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. On January 1, 1801, Brockton merged with other towns within the new Province of Massachusetts Bay to form the Town of Quincy. With the creation of new counties in 1866 and 1888, Brockton lost its status as an incorporated town and became a part of Quincy again. The first store opened in what is now downtown Brockton on Main Street on October 3, 1800 by Elisha Shephard as Hezekiah Shephard's Store No. 2 (now called Watertown). On December 15th, 1800 Samuel Morse opened his store at Seymour and Tryon Streets which became home to many early companies that operated in Boston during this time such as The Boston Post Office Company (founded 1829), The New England Telephone Company (1858), The American Telegraph Company (1868), General Electric Corporation (1888) and others. A plaque located at 5 King Street commemorates Samuel Morse's contributions to civilization: "This building erected by Samuel Morse may be considered one of the most important landmarks built during our commonwealth’s history." On July 12th 1861 while serving as Mayor of Quincy he met with Confederate Major General Robert Ewell at Quincy Common Market where they discussed plans for future operations should slavery be abolished throughout America including possible relocation to Canada if necessary. Following their meeting President Abraham Lincoln issued a proclamation recognizing secession from America if desired by either side which led to much celebration across America including riots taking place all over Great Britain including London where 400 people were killed by British troops under General Robert Ewell starting on August 14th 1860 - known today as Black Friday - events that continue to this day across America referred to commonly simply as "The Civil War". In 1865 Brockton voted overwhelmingly not to annex into Somerville following demonstrations against doing so from residents living near Somerville's border crossings with Rockland County and Arlington County respectively due primarily to fears about increasing taxation rates within BrockTON without any corresponding benefits or services being given back to those areas outside annexation thereby threatening economic stability within its borders. This act set off years-long protests against high taxes within BrockTON often dubbed "the Tax Revolution" with some even calling it "the greatest social revolution in American history". After nearly 10 years peaceful protests eventually erupted resulting in several arrests culminating with three days long rioting beginning on April 6th 1867 when police used tear gas grenades against protesters numbering around 100 plus who had looted stores windows and damaged homes leaving more than 30 people dead including 11 civilians aged 16 or younger alone inside City Hall uptown at 221 George Street while Mayor James Cushing sat inside watching various documents being shredded before finally departing for his vacation home outside town limits later that night; three days later another major riot took place involving between 500-1 thousand participants when soldiers were deployed along Swanston Road leading up North towards South End streetclothes depot prior local businesses refused service refusing state requisition for goods; resulting in injuries/death among both sides involved; two weeks later another major riot ensued lasting hours between 5000-10 thousand participantsOVEnAll streets along Frontenac Avenue resulted largely due this time from a misunderstanding caused when military personnel raided a local bakery mistakenly thought it sold contraband war supplies instead resulting in several injuries/deadlock becoming known collectively as Bread Riot Day A plaque dedicatedto those killed during Bread Riot Day can be found locatedat 222 George St., just eastof Kendall Square Park.(currently destroyed)( Map )
