Beverly, Massachusetts is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 25,842 at the 2010 census. Beverly is part of the Worcester–Fenway Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was first settled in 1784 by John Winthrop and his family as part of the larger Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. In 1803, Beverly became an act of Congress named for George Washington's father-in-law, Samuel Beverley. The community name commemorates General James Kieft who had died in 1798 while fighting with Patriot forces against France in North America during the War for Independence. After years of growth and development, Beverly officially became a town on November 6, 1907. The original white snow mobile that conveyed mail from Boston to Quincy began service in Beverly on December 5, 1828; it was abandoned in 1892 because it could not cover the entire route between Boston and Worcester (now known as Route 128). The first post office opened in Beverly on October 12, 1829; it operated under the name "Worcester". By 1840 there were four stores and twenty-one residents living hereabouts. A schoolhouse was built here around 1850 but burned down; a new school building was erected opposite today's park where this one stood until 1942 when it also caught fire. In 1870–71 residents voted to annexation into Worcester due to increased competition from other towns with similar populations like Acton and Brookline which were being annexed at about the same time into neighboring towns such as Worcester and Springfield. On July 1st 1861 Beverly voted to become an independent municipality within Worcester County with its own government entity including Debtor's Trust Company which leased land from Plymouth Congregational Church for use as a cemetery until 1964 when that property reverted back to Plymouth Congregational Church ownership following $325K donation by then Mayor Thomas Menino together with funds raised through “A Better Way” campaign initiated by then State Senator Joseph Kennedy I (D-Boston) – now City Councilor Vincent Micale – during his time as mayor beginning January 1st 1998 thru May 31st 2000! This event demonstrates how important civic engagement can be throughout our community! On November 6th 1907 Beverly formally became a town after voting overwhelmingly in favor by local voters citing reasons such as better education opportunities available within their borders or lack thereof surrounding communities like Acton or Brookline which had just annexed into nearby towns such as Worcester and Springfield over time without any vote taken nor consideration given to what may best benefit these adjacent communities! At present day many people erroneously believe that annexation occurred simply based upon population size rather than anything else taking place within our borders since this has always been an unfounded rumor perpetuated primarily by those who are least interested or capable of understanding our complex political landscape!
As the industry grew and innovation occurred in the design of firearms, so too did soft gun cases. The first such case was created by John Moses Browning in 1892. He designed a series of cases specifically for handguns, which he called the “Browning Deluxe” cases. These cases were made out of heavy duty brass and were meant to be used with handguns that were much more expensive than common pistols. The popularity of these Cases led to other designers creating similar designs over time, such as John Darnall, who came up with the “Darnall Softgun Case” in 1951. This case was designed to protect handguns from damage while in transit or storage. It featured a hard outer shell that was covered in a durable felt interior liner. Soft guncases continued to be popular through the years, even into the 1990s when they finally became less common due to technological advancement and increased competition from shooters using assault rifles and shotguns. In recent times, however, soft gun cases have been resurgent due to their unique design and durability.

It became a separate municipality in 1845 and remains an unincorporated community. The town's first post office opened in 1738 and closed in 1851. In 1861, Beverly became the county seat of Worcester County after it was moved from Malden to its current location. The county courthouse served as the town's administrative center until 1912 when it was replaced by the Beverly Library building on Main Street. The original millrace that ran through Beverly formed one of the most important transportation corridors for early settlers in New England. Today some remnants of this millrace can be seen along Route 9 from Old Beverly to Junction Brook Road outside of town limits. In 1869, voters passed a resolution appointing John Pitman as mayor despite his lack of experience with local government and instead chose Cyrus Hennepin as their mayoral candidate; Pitman never took office because he died two years later from tuberculosis at age 36 while still serving as mayor. In 1870, Beverly annexed part of neighboring Watertown which had been its own independent township since 1826 but remained unincorporated until 1914 when it merged into Beverly with other towns within Worcester County due to annexation laws then being put into effect by the state legislature under Article XI Section 3 of the Massachusetts Constitution (the "New Government Law"). According toPopulation Estimates reported by United States Census Bureau October 2010 , there are 2,835 people living in Beverley with 1% who identify themselves as black or African American
Beverly was founded in 1636 by the Reverend John Beverly. The town quickly became a center of trade and commerce, thanks to its location on the Connecticut River. In 1837, Beverly became the capital of Massachusetts.
