The merger left the Arsenal shop open for business once again but it stopped operating altogether in 1893 due to financial problems. However, it is still remembered today as one of the oldest gun stores in town. During its time as an active business, the Smith & Wesson Arsenal served as a center for learning about shooting and firearm technology. Many famous individuals such as Benjamin Franklin and Alexander Hamilton visited the shop during its heyday!
