In the early 1800s, there were a few people in Attleboro that were interested in creating and selling firearms. One of these people was John Tuttle who started manufacturing rifles and pistols. He also developed a lighted firearm that he called the “Tuttle Rifle”. The Tuttle Rifle used an old style of muzzleloader magazine that could be attached to the rifle using a strap. This allowed the user to fire multiple rounds at once with ease. When John Tuttle died in 1827, his son took over his business and continued making firearms and lighted firearms until 1892. In 1892, Samuel Colt began producing pistols in America and he decided to produce a lighted pistol for use by law enforcement officers. He called this pistol the Colt revolver. The first handguns made from cast steel were called revolvers because they fired single shot cartridges instead of having multiple barrels like other guns at the time. This made them more difficult to track down and confiscate since it would be Impossible to identify which gun had been used in which crime!

The town was first settled in 1630 by settlers from Ipswich, Suffolk, England. Attleboro is named after John Attleborough, an early settler and member of the General Court of Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1636-38. Attleboro’s rich colonial history can be seen in its buildings such as the House of Representatives (1636), Samuel Adams’s Meeting House (1702), and Increase Mather’s home (1723). Also significant are the mills located in town - including Cotton Mill No. 1 (1812), Woolen Mill No. 2 (1825), and Paper Mill No. 3 (1831). The present day Attleboro community began to form when waves of Irish immigrants started arriving during the 1840s and 1850s seeking new opportunities in America. One result was that many small businesses quickly emerged to support this influx - including a cooperatives store known as "The Shop" which still stands today on Main Street near Center Street - thanks to local transportation options such as horse-drawn wagons or carts brought into town for processing purposes. During the late 19th century large industrial establishments moved intotown, but these did not initially lead to widespread economic development; instead they concentrated around Factory Row north of downtown where steel production took hold beginning in 1892 and continuing until 1970. In recent years however there has been renewed interest both withinAttleboro itself and beyond its borders due to its unique location within minutes' walk of two major universities – UMass Amherst and USF – as well as its proximity to several high-tech companies. Attleboro, Massachusetts is a town in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. The population was 5,859 at the 2010 census. The town is bordered by Cape Cod to the south, Wellesley to the east, and Plymouth to the north. It lies on Martha's Vineyard Sound, about midway between Boston and New York City. Attleboro was first settled in 1635 by colonists from England who named it after their home town of Altona in Germany. Attleboro is one of several towns in Massachusetts that were founded by Puritans during the English Civil War (1642-49). In 1650, General John Winthrop rented land at present-day Attleboro for a new church and college he started called Harvard University. After winning an early war against King Charles I (1630-51), the Pilgrims arrived in North America in May 1625 and began building a settlement on what would become Attleborough Park across from today's courthouse square. On October 6, 1635, they finalized plans for their new town by appointing officials - including Surveyor Nicholas Raynham - to draw up a plan for streets, houses, churches and other buildings." Attleboro quickly grew as a center of religious activity with Congregationalists (the original Protestant settlers) predominating; there were also Catholics and Jews living among them at this time. In 1639/40 Captain John Smith sailed into Martha's Vineyard looking for land for his Virginia colony; he likely passed through Attleboro on his way ashore because it had been renamed "Attleton" after him some time earlier! In February 1644 Increase Mather wrote "A Charter Under which We Do Grant unto Our Lady Mary OurMother all those Landes about us lyinge within these Isles...Wherever she may direct us." This charter granted unrestricted access to land grants around present day Attlesborough Peninsula - including much of what still makes up the town today - to any woman or family who could prove her ancestry back to Queen Elizabeth I (1547-1603). By 1700 only men were allowed to own property here; women continued becoming involved increasingly throughout Dutch colonial days until such time as they received full equality under British law following World War II. The Dutch West India Company had taken over most of North America by 1600 but left some undeveloped areas along Martha's Vineyard Sound Deer Island included which became part of Attlingborough upon its purchase by Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1732/33; when this area reverted back to Dutch rule due largely to lack of development no individual claimed it until 1792 when Thomas Paine bought it from Denmark with intentions of developing it into an uninhabited island estate! The First Parish Church built here took place in 1724/27 & is still standing today – despite being damaged multiple times by fire over its lifetime! As many as 24 smallpox outbreaks hitting nearby villages prior Revolutionary War gave impetus for suspicion among local Quakers that British forces might have caused them instead – though no proof ever emerged! In 1802 Samuel Adams moved his pencil factory from Quincy MA upriver towards modern day Burlington VT where he set up shop next door & continues making pencils even now!!!
