For centuries before this, leadshot was used as artillery ammunition because it was strong enough to penetrate plate armor and shoot through doors or windows. When metal detectors were introduced during the 1960s, most munitions manufacturers moved out of state because leadshot couldn’t be imported anymore without running into safety concerns created by newly developing weapons like AK-47 rifles and handguns made from steel instead of vulnerable lead shotshell shells. However, Ammo Outlet Inc., which still operates on Main Street today remains one of the few remaining old-time munitions organizations in America that continues producing both leadshot rounds (made for shotguns) and cannon shot (used for artillery).
