Westminster is a small town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. The original name for Westminster was "Baconstown." In 1814, David Denny bought 640 acres (291 hectares) northeast of present-day Westminster for $12 per acre ($3 million today). This purchase increased the size of what would later become Westminster by 10%. Denny named his new community "Dennytown" after himself and his friend Rear Admiral James A. Denny who served as Commander-in-Chief Atlantic Fleet during World War I. In 1851, Congress passed an act which designated all square miles in Prince Georges County as township limits; this act also created Lower Marlboro Township to its east and Upper Potomac Township to its west. In 1876, Wilmington Avenue was added as a main street through town; it remains one of its most popular streets today. On July 14, 1916 – two days after America entered World War I – Winchester Street became North Main Street through town when it restyled between Westover Road (northwest) and Covington Road (southwest). That same year saw another important event when President Wilson announced that he would be moving his White House from Washington D.C., where he had previously stayed, to Fortress Monroe on Virginia Beach Boulevard near Point Lookout lighthouse; this move marked the beginning of American involvement in World War I which would last until Victory over Germany in 1918. On October 7th 1906 – just four years after Downingtown came into existence – Union Station opened up shop across from present day Center Plaza Shopping Center with room for only about 150 passengers daily due to limited space available on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor Line at that time; this station remained open until 1970 when it closed due largely to Amtrak withdrawing service down that line following the bombing of Three Mile Island nuclear power plant in 1979 resulting in massive economic losses for Baltimore/Washington International Airport which took place adjacent to Union Station Sears Tower downtown which still stands today! Notwithstanding these setbacks however, Downingtown slowly began growing again with many development projects taking place such as: construction of Interstate 95 Alternate between 1978-1979 which brought more jobs into town while providing access from points eastward including Fredericktowne Mall across Route 517 soon thereafter followed by Stroudsburg Landing State Park next door serving both public recreational purposes as well as housing developments such as Keystone Commons off Ulysses Drive starting around 1990 now known simply as "The Commons" while also becoming home base for several teams during their summer seasons like The Rangers soccer team who play their games at nearby Highmark Stadium before eventually moving out permanently after playing their final game there against local rivals Bowie City FC onJuly 6th 2014 being played before a sold out crowd inside Highmark Stadium while also marking one year since they vacated Bowie City FC’s home field!) With all those events taking place throughout those years residents quickly started forgetting what happened two summers ago!

In 1854 Westminster amalgamated with neighboring Harford Township to form North Capital Borough which continued to grow until it merged with Bowie Township in 1959 effective 1 January 1960 under then Town Manager Harry Weingarten Sr., who had been appointed by Governor Charles Calvert Hagerty following recommendations from his Councilmember John Pemberton When Bowie Township merged with Rockville Centretowns Borough on 1 January 1960 pursuant to section 2-202(a) of the Municipal Code (Municipal Code), all former Bowie residents within North Capital Borough were added as residents of Rockville Centretowns Borough; all former Harford Township residents within North Capital Borough were added as residents of Harford Township; all former Westminister township residents within North Capital Borough were added asResidentsOfWestministerTownship;andallformerWeminsterTownship Residents WithinNorthCapitalBorough WereAddedAsResidentsOfWestministerTownshipOnJanuary1st1960). As a result, only those who resided in each township prior to their merger are still considered heritage individuals within their respective townships today - this includes those born before December 15th, 1957 (the date Onondaga Creek valley opened up through much of Northern Prince George's County), while other citizens have since relocated or left their homes within their respective townships altogether
