The idea behind theseights was to create a system that could be used with handguns to improve accuracy when firing from a moving vehicle or when taking aim from a moving platform. Theseights were called "Ballistic Sighting Units." In 1978,defense contractor McDonnell Douglas began development of what would become the Laser Guided Missile (LGM-119) guidance system using Ballistics Sighting Units (BSUs). Thissystem allowed Ground Control stations (GCS) on warships to direct missiles towards targets ashore without having to use radar or other means of tracking the target. The LGM-119 system was later redesignated as the Tomahawk Guidance System and is still in use today aboard multiple platforms including aircraft and ships. In 1990, lasers were introduced into warfare by America's Air Force during Operation Desert Storm while they were being developed as part of Project Enduring Freedom - which aimed to defend U.S.-led coalition forces against Iraqi air attacks during the war. American soldiers equipped with LaserGuidance units fired weapons at enemy aircraft from low altitude, providing accurate hits that greatly improved battlefield effectiveness against enemy flying vehicles while also avoiding friendly fire incidents. Stimulated lasers use light energy from LEDs to stimulate the backside of a photodiode in the weapon's electronics, causing it to send electricity through a wire to theGun's Laser motor which then turns the LED on for about 10 minutes. Unstimulated lasers do not use light energy, but instead rely on either sound or infrared radiation waves emitted by the device itself (useful for night operations) to cause power to flow into the photodiode which in turn activates it and sends information back to your computer telling you when your gun has been hit.

Takoma Park is a small city in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. The population was 23,031 at the 2010 census. It is the namesake of Takoma Hill, a neighborhood in Northwest Washington D.C. Takoma Park is part of the Washington-Baltimore-Chevy Chase Metropolitan Statistical Area. The City of Takoma Park was organized on April 1, 1896 and annexed by the then independent city of Baltimore on March 25, 1898. The area that now makes up Takoma Park owes its name to two hills located within its boundaries: Takoma Hill (a prominent hill near Morningside Avenue and Eastern Boulevard) and North Capitol Hill (nearcurrent home of U Street NW). In 1838, General John B Getty founded Gettysburg National Military Cemetery just east of present day Takomas points northward from his original battlefield encampment site between Harpers Ferry Road and Pennsylvania Avenue NW; this land later became known as Gettysburg Heights and remains today one of the largest national military cemeteries in the United States outside Arlington National Cemetery. In 1892 when Baltimore annexed what is now Takoma Park into itscity limits, much acreage around what is now Morningside Avenue NE remained undeveloped because it was considered part of Baltimore's "bartertown" which traded goods with neighboring jurisdictions such as Carroll County and Prince George's County for access to town water supplies and other resources. This area included parts of Druid Hills Township including today's Old Main building at 2705 Druid Hills Rd., which served as both courthouse until 1893 when it moved to Federal Hill under then-Mayor John Wanamaker; during this time period many commercial businesses were established along Druid Hills Roads like J & L Drugs Stores (later bought out by CVS Pharmacy), Frederick Smith Cigar Store #2 (later converted into an apartment complex), Mrs Hagedorn's Bakery (& Pizzeria) on Oneida Ave., various doctors' offices/hospitals/Laundromats etc.; among these early pioneers were architect James Smith who designed old Main Building on Elm St., Mr Wm Busch who built Market House(now former Bank Of America building) on Orange Ave./Hollywood Blvd., live stock dealer Ebenezer Willard whose lots fronting Route 7th St.(now Midpoint Shopping Center)&Harbor Branch Library(then First National Bank Building), real estate agent Alfred Cary who represented developer Isaac Naylor in negotiations over developing North Capitol Heights adjacent to present day Starbucks coffee shop plaza...the list goes On! Many more names would become household words throughout our community through development over time - such as Stevens Point Village after Mayor Harry Siegel opened up an agricultural market there in 1945; Johns Hopkins Medical School graduate Dr Leonard Woolridge III singlehandedly resurrected downtown Takomaspark following a fire that destroyed most or all evidence thereof back in 1984; current mayor Russel Evans played key role in redeveloping Druid Hills Rd.-Midtown areas surrounding I-95 between US 301W & US301E during his first term - he has since been followed by Deputy Mayor Eric Geller who leads Gang Stanton Development Corporation responsible for revitalizing many older industrial properties across Montgomery County including several large office buildings along I-95 near Bethesda Naval Base; Master Plan updates have also occurred for Elkridge Yards housing project adjacent to I-495 interchange & Owings Mills Mall;; finally last year saw some major redevelopment plans announced for Downtown Bethesda including new shopping streets leading from Stadium Row towards Light Rail Station & potential mixed use developments around Friendship Heights beyond - making Takoma Park one very active city with numerous initiatives happening simultaneously all while preserving many valuable aspects associated with its past
