By 1865, the company had expanded its operations into what is now known as Binoculars Incorporated. In 1916, the company merged with American Optical Company (AOC) which was founded by Amos Kendall in 1876. After AOC's merger with Eastman Kodak in 1997, the company continued under the name of Eastman Kodak Binoculars until it was sold to Omnicom Group in 2006.
Takoma Park is a community in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, located on the north side of Prince George's County, Maryland. The population was 493 at the 2010 census. The Takoma Park Post Office was established in 1867 and discontinued operation in 1975. It was replaced by Takoma Park Center as the town's primary mailing center. The original name for the community, "Takoma", was changed to "Takoma Park" in 1922 when it became an incorporated municipality within Prince George's County. The current name comes from a ploy by then-mayor Harry Martling to get federal funds for road repairs and build a park in what would become Takoma Park. There are three elementary schools (Annapolis Elementary School, Takoma Heights Primary School, and West View Intermediate School) and one middle school (Fenton Middle School). There are also two high schools (Loyola Marymount University High School and Bowie Technical High School), both of which serve students from Takoma Park Center and Annapolis Elementary Schools only. There are no public libraries within the municipality; all books must be borrowed from neighboring counties or from local library systems. According to the United States Census Bureau, Takoma Park has a total area of , of which is land and is water. As of the census of 2010, there were 493 people living in village: 338 males, 111 females

This connection began when Takoma Park was part of Georgetown County until 1849 when it became part of Prince George’s County. In 1933, Prince George’s County merged with Montgomery County to form District Of Columbia government and Takoma Park became part of this new government district. However, because Takoma Park falls within Montgomery County again now (and not District Of Columbia), it continues to maintain its own unique culture and History that can be found nowhere else in Maryland!
The Takoma Park community was founded in 1838. The town was named for the man who first leased the land to build a cotton gin and market place on the present-day site of Takoma Park. The town grew rapidly and by 1851, it had a population of over 1,000 people. In 1865, the Maryland General Assembly created Takoma Park as an incorporated village, and it remained that way until 1971.
