Salisbury is a small town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 664 at the 2010 census. It lies on the eastern border of the county and is northwest of Washington D.C., bordered by Frederick County to the south and east, Anne Arundel County to the north, and Montgomery County to the west. The first settler in what is now Salisbury was Nicholas Braddock who arrived there in 1675 after trekking through what is now Pennsylvania and attacking a Native American village near modern-day Philadelphia. He founded a trading post here called "Braddock's Station" which he used as a base from which he explored much of North America for England's Crown. His son James Waddell also came to Salisbury in 1714 as part of an effort by King George II to open up new land grants to settlers throughout Maryland. Although it had been settled as early as 1692 when John Smith surveyed a piece of land here that would later become known as Upper Sandusky Township, it wasn't until 1837 that Salisbury formally became one of Prince George's County; its incorporation date being March 26th (the same day as Frederick). In 1881, when salem tobacco started production on nearby lands adjoining present-day Upper Sandusky Township, interest in developing this area peaked due largely to this factor alone - with sawmills soon sprouting up all around town center along with mills for producing paper products such as books, newspapers andFlowers & Trees
