Salisbury is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 7,547 at the 2010 census. Salisbury is located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and is bordered to the east by Salisbury Township and to the west by Ulysses S. Grant National Recreation Area. The earliest mention of what is now Salisbury dates back to 1682 when Major John Smith found Native Americans living thereabouts and named it after his home town of Shrewsbury in England. In 1737, John Law established a small township called Harmony which lay adjacent to present-day Salisbury Township. By 1800, all of Prince George's County had been organized into townships with salaried civil governments under proprietors or commissioners. As part of this system, Harmony was among those abolished in 1827 along with most of the other townships except for Westmoreland Township which was created from part of Easton Township. In 1828, when Prince George's County was divided into two parts based on racial lines as a result of the American Civil War (the north being made up mostly slaveholders while the south became free), much of what are now eastern Montgomery County including present-day Salisbury were transferred to Prince George's County from Easton Township along with Westmoreland Township and most portions of Northumberland Township including present-day Upper Marlboro. As a result of this change in government, much commercial property within present day Salisbury boundaries remained undeveloped until after World War II when Farmingdale began developing much land within its original boundaries eastward from Route 1A (old MD Route 66). From its incorporation as a borough on October 14, 1950 until July 2nd municipal amendment granted city status to Salisbury on January 10th 1973 following successful application by Mayor Fenton Garner; Salisbury functioned as an unincorporated community managed by elected officials solely responsible for general services such as police protection and fire prevention; however some efforts have been made over time towards becoming more urbanized with plans for dedicated public transportation services offered through county government entities such as MARC Railroads Company Partnership that provides passenger rail service between Washington D.C., Baltimore/Annapolis Junction Station and Cumberland Point station near Georgetown University; however these plans have not materialized yet due primarily to opposition from constituents who feel their rural character should not be diminished through development proposals championed by city officials despite having no vote in City Council meetings where decisions affecting their qualityoflife are made without their input or knowledge As one would expect given its location close to both Washington D.C./Baltimore/Annapolis Junction Station and Cumberland Point station serving many students attending nearby Georgetown University; businesses located within walking distance include Subway sandwich shops operated by local riders who deliver food directlyto customers' cars parked near Walgreens Pharmacy across Rte 1A near US Capitol complex; KFC also operates several stores within Safeway mall当前商店，也有中医广场、高速公交站以及国际旅游超市所在的レストラン内。 Restaurants further away from downtown include Midtown Tavern & Grill(which opened in 2006) about 5 miles away off I-95W just south of US Capital ComplexEating out has become increasingly difficult since restaurants located closer together tend to offer lower quality foods while those approximately 15 miles northeasterviewing Interstate 95 face significant competition from fast food chains such as McDonalds （新闻评分 3星）and Wendy's parent company Taco Bell Incorporation加州立足雷神科循环运输中心。 Although crime rates remain relatively low given its large population density; assaults against civilians occurred twice during 2009andals against law enforcement officers occurred once per month during that year . However, it wasn't until the 12th century AD when a group of Italian architects built what is considered the first true optical telescope - the Mona Lisa Telescope - which allowed human beings to view objects up close for the first time!

Salisbury is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 1,624 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Washington metropolitan area. Salisbury was founded by surveyors in 1799 as West Point on the east bank of the Potomac River. The name "West Point" may have been derived from an iron works that once stood there. The first white children were born in Salisbury when it was incorporated as a town in 1836. There were no schools until after 1830 and only two stores until about 1850. Even so, Salisbury quickly became one of the most important agricultural towns in Maryland due to its fertile land and rich resources such as coal, timber, and lead. In 1881, Salisbury lost its charter as a town but kept its right to vote and enjoy all the other privileges which towns enjoyed under state law before that time. At 1:00 p.m., on July 2nd 1861, Abraham Lincoln was inaugurated as 44th President of the United States and four days later his cabinet was sworn into office with James Buchanan serving as Secretary of War and Gideon Welles serving as Secretary of State; both men had come from Salisbury where they had addresses given to them by Mayor John Hargrave who also delivered a speech thanking Lincoln for coming to understand their needs better than he ever could have done himself! One account has it that Mr Hargrave related this story: "I called on him to-day at his house (July 2) just before he left for Washington... He told me he would not stay more than two or three weeks because he wanted to visit some friends there... I replied 'John,' you are too good for us--we can't have you here more than three or four days.'" In 1865 Union General Ulysses S Grant occupied Fort Stevens near present-day Bowietown while winter encampments were being built up along Eastern Shore opposite Fortress Monroe; during these preparations Confederate Lieutenants General Jubal Early and Aide deCamp Donelson arrived with a large force numbering 12 000 cavalrymen plus artillery; early next morning Early ordered his forces forward across Long Bridge over Big Meadows bridge near present day Bowietown expecting only skirmishes; however instead large numbers of men got lost going downstream while trying unsuccessfully to cross Little Meadows stream which separated Fort Stevens from Bowietown - leading Earlys army astray well beyond Lee’s original intentions! This misdirection gave Union General Robert Ewell control over much Eastern Shore country including Frederick County extending all the way down into Virginia including Petersburg
