Salisbury, Maryland is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 5,846 at the 2010 census. Salisbury is the only incorporated municipality in Prince George's County. It is part of the Washington–Baltimore– calculate Anacostia corridor metropolitan area. The town was first settled by English colonists in 1729 and was founded on the Potomac River. In 1836, it became an unincorporated community within Prince George's County. In 1965, it became an incorporated municipality with a population of 5,846. Salisbury is located at (38.681327,-76.468583). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , of which is land and , or 1% of its total population, lives in buildings that are two stories or higher. As of the census of 2000, there were 4,035 people, 1,563 households and 990 families residing in the town. The population density was 671 people per square mile (253/km²). There were 2,074 housing units at an average density of 294/km²

The anapaestus was made from a piece of wood or metal that was long and narrow, similar to a modern bowstring. It allowed the shooter to control his arrow more easily by using its length as a fulcrum. The anapaestus also had a crossbar at one end, which helped stabilize the sling while it was being shot. In China, there were even earlier references to gun slings dating back 600 BC! A type of sling known as qiāngzhǎn (連球) was used with spears and other weapons. The qiāngzhǎn consisted of two ropes tied together at one end, which were then looped around someone’s waist or arm and pulled taut. This method allowed the user to fire several shots quickly without having to reload his weapon multiple times. Gun slings began appearing in Europe during the Middle Ages. One early example is from 12th century AD when rifled firearms became common in warfare. Gunners soon realized that they could shoot projectiles much further than before with these new guns by using different types of launchers called carriages or stocks: devices that supported the barrel and fired projectiles through a hole drilled into the stock or carriage for shooting purposes

Salisbury, Maryland is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 12,671 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Prince George's County. Salisbury was founded by English colonists in 1737 and was named for Sir Samuel Salisbury, 1st Baronet. The first settlers were primarily from Yorkshire and Lancashire. They arrived on horseback and built cabins near what is now known as Old Salisbury Road. In 1740, they built a small brick courthouse which served as the county seat until 1801 when Frederick Douglass made his home here and began to preach abolitionism from this location. In 1814-1815, General John Armstrong moved the county seat to Silver Spring because of its strategic position between Washington D.C., Baltimore City and Philadelphia (then Pennsylvania). In 1865, after five years of war fought by Prince George's County with assistance from neighboring jurisdictions (Washington D.C., Montgomery County, Delaware County, West Virginia), the new Congress decided that all but one parish of Prince George's should be divided into two counties - each with a court system unique to itself - so that military strength could be better directed against Confederate forces operating within Maryland while also providing more judicial resources for populated areas outside of that single county line
