Gun magazines in Salisbury, Maryland date back to the early 1800s. In 1818, John Fenton erected a magazine on the corner of High and Market Streets. By 1829, gunsmiths had constructed a number of magazines within easy walking distance of each other in what is now downtown Salisbury. By 1851, most of the buildings on High Street had been destroyed by fire, but two existing stores—the Riggs Arms Company and the William Lyon Store—were used as warehouses for storing guns and ammunition. On October 2, 1851, Captain A.F. Hatch purchased all of the property between High and Market Streets from Mr. Fenton for $1,500 cash; he then renovated and enlarged both stores into arsenals with an area of 100 feet by 50 feet (30 x 15 m). The new armories were completed in December 1851 and became known as "The Arsenal". In 1865–66 Captain Hatch leased part of his armory to Major General Samuel Tilton who functioned as its first commander-in-chief while it was being reconstructed after damage caused by Confederate artillery fire during the Second Battle of Bull Run. The Tilton Armory remained operational until 1870 when it was sold to Colonel Pumphrey & Son who operated it until 1893 when it was donated to Salisbury Mayor Ambrose Evansrance for use as a public library. Since 1907 there have been several alterations to The Arsenal including installation of elevators so that firearms could be stored without having to leave the armory; construction of a gymnasium which served as an air conditioned training center for salaried personnel; addition of three underground levels housing more storage space; and renovation including replacement or placementof walls around firing ranges in order to improve safety for employees and spectators attending matches at The Arsenal

In 1951, Salisbury's only gun store, Peddle's Guns & Ammo, closed its doors after over 50 years in business. However, it is still considered one of the city's most historic businesses. In addition to its firearms section – which continues to be one of the city’s most popular areas for firearm shopping – Peddle’s also carried sporting goods, ammunition and other items related to guns and hunting. In 1984, Salisbury City Council voted unanimously to adopt Resolution No. “To Promote Firearms Use among Youth withinSalisbury Municipal limits” As part of this measure, local officials formed a committee To investigate ways to increase access to firearms by youth between 7th-12th grades within municipal boundaries
Salisbury is a town in Prince Georges County, Maryland, United States. The population was 3,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Washington–Baltimore–Chevy Chase Metropolitan Statistical Area. Salisbury is located on the southern edge of the Patuxent River valley and is bordered by Frederick to the east, Bel Air to the west, and Eagerfield to the north. The first Europeans to visit what is now Salisbury were Quakers who arrived in 1685 from North America. In 1713 Francis Fenton built a gristmill on present-day Millstream Drive and named it after his father-in-law Sir Thomas Fenton, 1st Baronet of Westphalia in England. In 1821 John Garrett founded Garrett Manufacturing Company which became one of Maryland's leading commercial businesses. The company manufactured pianos and other musical instruments before selling them nationally. In 1932 it merged with Naylor Bros., Inc., one of Baltimore's largest machine tool companies, becoming one of America's most comprehensive keyboard manufacturers. The merger created an industry giant that changed how people communicated through music by producing millions of keyboards each year for many different brands including Gershwin Piano Company (later Gershwin Musical Instruments Corporation), NBC Symphony Orchestra Keyboard Department, Sony PlayStation 2/3 Keyboard Department (now JBL) He also founded Salisbury Symphony Orchestra in 1984 as a summer community music program for children ages 4 - 12 years old which continues today with conductor Drsagan Krastanjevich as artistic director

By 1904, all rifles had been redesigned so that these magazines could now hold ammunition outside the firearm itself. This change allowed people more versatility when using their rifles as shotguns as well because now they no longer needed to carry extra rounds around in case something went wrong with their rifle or they needed them for another purpose outside the home
