Salisbury is named after the River Salisbury and its original surveyor, Samuel Robins. The first settler in what became Salisbury was John Atkins who came to this area in 1772. He built a log cabin on a bend in the River Salisbury and named it Atkins Cabin. In 1801, William Taylor moved his family from Baltimore to this area and established Taylor's Store hereon. At that time there were no roads or rails in this region so goods had to be shipped by boat or wagon overland from Baltimore. By 1820, most of Cecil County had been settled with only a few isolated farms remaining between Hereford Point (now known as Indian Hill) on the south side of the river and Salisbury. On October 5, 1824, Samuel Teague purchased land comprising present day east side ofriver from John Atkins for $250 ($ in current dollars). The town site was surveyed and platted on November 30th of that year by George Stephenson with Jacob Hargrave as Surveyor General under direction of Stephenson’s friend, President James Ketchum Salisbury began as an agricultural community with many farmers growing corn, beans, potatoes and other vegetables; however during World War II much manufacturing took place at nearby Rockville Naval Air Station which located just outside town limits making it difficult for residents to access their homes or businesses which made their life difficult until 1948 when air traffic restrictions ended and factory production resumed within town limits; however since then little has changed except for population growth which continues now into the 2020s According to the 2000 U.S Census there were 2 people living alone who rented: 0% lived in families headed by married couples living together; 100% lived independently As of 2010 there were 1&1/2 people working full time jobs inside or outside of town limits while all others worked either part time or didn't work at all . There are also several churches including one Baptist church that meets once per week inside or outside of townlimits while other churches meet monthly inside or outsideoftownlimits . Also included are several stores including one grocery store plus two convenience stores along with three restaurants: two Chinese restaurants (one open 24 hrs), one Italian restaurant (open 24 hrs), one American grill chain open 7 days a week

Salisbury is a small town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 2,871 at the 2010 census. Salisbury is part of the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and is the seat of Prince George's County government. The first permanent settler in what is now Salisbury was Nicholas Halbert from Massachusetts in 1732. He built a cabin on the present-day site of East Market Street in 1736 or 37. In 18th century America, there were several large plantations in Prince Georges County that exported slaves to Africa; many slaveowners had their slaves fenced off from view so they could not learn about them and free them during an uprising or insurrection by their slaves (known as " Mini- Revolts"). This allowed plantation owners to keep their slaves while still allowing them to work for pay underlings who did all but nothing except look after the animals and perform menial tasks such as cleaning rooms and cooking meals). In 1807, when British forces occupied Baltimore City after its successful siege of Fort McHenry, General John Crain ordered all British subjects within Baltimore City to leave without warning any of their masters (slaves included) or taking anything with them (the exception being goods that could be sold). This order applied equally to American citizens living withinBaltimore City limits; however, since most Americans were unaware of this notification until it arrived in their mail weeks later, few took advantage of it. One example where slaveholders did take some items with them was flour which would have been valuable to bake bread using local cornmeal instead of imported flour. A store owner named Isaac Niles bought a bushel of Baltimore city flour at auction for $1 in 1792 and stored it away until his death in 1842; he left behind evidence that he had done so by storing two bales (a ton)of flour inside his house on State Street near Patterson Avenue until 1800 when his building collapsed due to rot caused by rainwater seeping through the walls into his cellar); this indicates how much importance slaveowners placed on keeping flour safe even though they no longer used it on their plantations.. The town began as three small villages: Northampton Village (now known as Easton), Westville Village (now known as Holyoke), and Salisbury Village (now known as Southpointe). On December 12, 1854, President James Kegley signed an executive order creating Frederick County which included parts of both Maryland and Virginia including Salisbury Township lying eastward along US 1 between White Flint Road and Winchester Chapel Road/Route 710/Easton Road/New Hope Road [later renamed Yorktown Boulevard]. The following year on January 8th Governor Hiram Johnson approved Resolution No 4641 authorising commissioners appointed by President Pierce Butler to investigate claims made against various deeds executed hereabouts since 1800 void because said deeds may have been procured without just compensation having regard thereto either party interested therein... unenclosed lots herein lay fallowing upon certain lots aforesaid annexed unto other jurisdictions viz., Garrett’s Ford & Newtown Square respective parcels Nos 3 & 4 thereunto located... Northampton village was laid out between Garrett’s Ford & Newtown Square... Westville village between Garrett’s Ford & Newtown Square... Salisbury village between Northampton Village & Southpointe
