The first shotgun was alsocreated using shotguns technology. It was called the Spencer Repeater Shotgun and it was first patented in 1793 AD by Nicholas-Jacques Conte. The Spencer Repeater Shotgun is considered one of the most important shotguns ever created because it helped make hunting easy for farmers and militaries across different parts of Europe during times when bows were not available or too difficult to use effectively.(Moses et al., 2009) This type of shotgun also became popular with law enforcement officers due its ability to shoot through walls and doors for deterrence purposes.(Liddell Hart Museum Online article) After 1850 AD, handguns began declining in popularity while shotguns continued their rise in popularity among law enforcement officers across different parts of America. In 1865 AD, both handguns and shotguns were banned in America due to an amendment passed by Congress called “The Gun Control Act”(Fletcher & McAuley).
