If there is one thing that everyone in Laurel knows about, it's that scopes have a long and proud history in the city. One example of this is the LaVerne-based Optics Company which was founded by two individuals who saw the need for better optics in Laurel County. In 1922, C.H. Richardson (1889-1976) opened his business after seeing an article about improvements being made to riflesights by Jens Jensen (1871-1951). Richardson had worked as an optician and shooter before opening his own business, so he knew how important good quality optics were for shooters and farmers alike. It wasn't until 1925 when Richardson met George Oliver (1870-1939), who also owned a business providing equipment and supplies to hunters across Maryland from his home at 7 Craighead Street in Jessup MD. The two men teamed up to start their own company - Oliver & Richardson - which would provide high quality glass lenses and telescopes to customers throughout Laurel County. This early success allowed them to build up their inventory and begin selling products online as well as at local stores such as Mr.'s Hardware located near Fayetteville MD along with other merchants throughout southern Maryland! The success of this company led to another venture - Oliver & Nichols Optical Company - which became one of the largest optical businesses in America during World War II! Their products helped make camouflage gear more effective for soldiers and bombers while also producing incredible views from rifle sights! This continued success led them into new businesses such as Marketing Research Associates Incorporated which provided marketing research services to businesses throughout central Maryland during the late 1960s through 2000s! This company was eventually sold off but its legacy will live on through its employees who continue providing valuable marketing research services today! What makes these companies stand out above all others is their dedication towards customer service; even if it means going above and beyond what is needed or expected! It's not easy being successful when you're started out small but these guys showed us that anything is possible if you set your mind towards it!

Laurel, Maryland is a town located in Prince George's County, Maryland. As of the 2010 census, the population was 20,554. The town borders Washington and Falls Church to the north, Oakley to the east, Annapolis to the south, and Hyattsville to the west. It is bordered by Bowie Township on its southeast edge and by Harford County on its northwest edge. The first people in Laurel were Native Americans who lived near what is now downtown Laurel. On July 4th, 1777, during the American Revolution, some British soldiers were killed when they were trespassing on land owned by John Adams in what is now Bowie Township. This event became known as "The Battle of Bowie." The town was named for General James Bowie (1732-1814), a part of General Charles Lee's army that fought at Yorktown. In 1864 Captain John Waddell established a sawmill here which remain one of Laurel's most important businesses today. The mill produced lumber until it closed in 1978 after over 50 years in business. After slavery was abolished in America in 1865 (by Abraham Lincoln through his Emancipation Proclamation), many white residents moved into or nearby black neighborhoods such as West Hyattsville and Annapolis during Reconstruction period following Union victory over Confederate forces at Gettysburg In 1871 Nathaniel Hawthorne purchased 1/3 interest in an early oil refinery operated by George PEnnelly & Brothers from Baltimore interests including James Buchanan Johnsons Sons Lumber Company proprietor Elijah Bogue among others; this company became known as Gulf Oil Refining Company with headquarters at 1207 William Street NW (now First National Bank building) until 1901 when it merged into Chesapeake & Atlantic Corporation which had corporate headquarters at 10 Downing Street NW from 1903 until 1967 when it merged into Pennzoil Corporation In 1915 Arthur Ashe won both gold medals at London Olympics while playing for United States team against England; he has been called "the greatest player ever born" After retiring from professional tennis he bought 100% controlling interest of US Open Championship Tennis Foundation and renamed it US Open Championship Tennis Incorporated In 1966 Coast Guard Auxiliary Station #2 opened here with headquarters off I-95 just south of town limits; HGR International Airport began operations providing air transport services between military bases and various airports across country In 1970 construction began on Interstate 95 bypassing downtown Laurel saving much time and money It took less than two years for I-95 to be completed concurrent with opening of local shopping mall located outside city limits With increased traffic brought about by suburban development along I-495 corridor Interstate 45 also bypassed Downtown Laurel completely cutting off access to what once was one of Md.'s most important transportation arteries

Laurel, Maryland is a city in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 54,822 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous municipality in Prince George's County after Frederick and is also the 9th most populous municipality in Maryland. Laurel was first established as a town on May 24, 1795 by order of then-Governor James K. Thrall. It was renamed for General John Laurens on November 12, 1825 following his death during the War of 1812. The name change followed the trend of many communities being renamed for heroes or local dignitaries following military engagements or other significant events in their vicinity. In 1847, a sawmill and gristmill were built east of present-day Laurel and became one of the largest mills in Baltimore County until it closed its doors in 1918. In 1860, Laurel had 1 store and 4 residential dwellings; by 1920 there were 10 stores with over 100 residences and 2 schools (1 school annex). By 1930 there were 30 stores with over 200 residences and 3 schools (2 annexes). The population reached its peak before declining precipitously during World War II due to wartime competition from larger cities such as Baltimore City and Annapolis Naval Air Station (now Joint Base Andrews). However, development resumed afterthe war with 2 large apartment complexes completed around 1955 which boosted growth once again until 1990 when community center/library construction eliminated another major housing market bottleneck. The increase in craft breweries has led to an increase in retail businesses including restaurants, pubs & cafes etc., but also new single family homes having been built that are unoccupied because they are underutilized or not wanted due to their unique features or architecture – some examples include: "The Woodlands", "Bellemere" & "Lakewood". A total of 95% of all traffic entering & exiting Laurel comes through I-270 so it is an important transportation hub located adjacent to several shopping malls as well as Amtrak stations making it an attractive location for business expansion into neighboring counties while still retains high qualityof life values which draw both residents & tourists alike
Laurel is a town in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 14,521. Laurel was founded by George Washington in 1789 and named after Laurel Hill in Delaware. It became part of Montgomery County on March 20, 1867.
