In 1795 Governor Thomas Mifflin issued patents for 2,000 acres within what are now Friendship Heights and Northumberland Parks; these patents included rights to build churches and schools. In 1814 Abraham Lincoln was born in Mansfield Ohio but moved with his family to Kentucky when he was six years old because his father wanted him closer to opportunities for education. After studying law at night while working as a lawyer in Springfield KY he moved back east to Washington D C where he began practicing law full time in 1828 He married Mary Todd Lincoln which made him presidents son-in-law which helped increase political connections between D C &Kentucky during this period By 1830 Abraham had built up some successful legal practice within D C so much so that he decided to move back into state politics permanently On July 3d 1830 Abraham Lincoln was elected Vice President by way of electoral vote over Adams & Harrison who both claimed To be qualified under Constitution article III Section 1 After being sworn into office on August 6th 1830 Abraham Stanton – his running mate – traveled directly from Philadelphia Pa where they’d been campaigning for three days straight
