After the war, Elmstedt saw rapid growth as families moved into the area seeking jobs in what was then a rural area with few industry options. Today, Elkton is one of the most diverse communities in Montgomery County with over 60% of its residents being racial or ethnic minorities including African Americans (27% of all residents), Hispanics (10%), Asians (4%), Poles (2%), Irish (1%) and Germans (1%). The economy of Elkton has been based on agriculture since its early days; today there are numerous small businesses that provide many services such as grocery stores, restaurants and taverns within walking distance of each other. Electricity is available through municipally-owned cooperative power companies which have allowed for more modern technologies to be brought into the community while keeping prices low for consumers. There is also an active nightlife scene that includes several bars and clubs located within walking distance of each other as well as professional sports teams that play games on local fields throughout the year!

Elkton, Maryland is a small town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. Elkton was founded on April 12, 1792 by John and Sarah Monette as the town of West Elkton. The name "Elkton" is derived from an Algonquian word meaning "place of many deer." The first settler in the area was Jonas Legate who arrived in 1795. In 1810 John Sisson erected a log cabin at what is now known as Elm Street and built a gristmill which became known as the Elkton Mill. In 1814 Nathaniel Pritchard settled in the area and later became proprietor of the West Elkton Gristmill which continued operation until it closed in 1902. In 1830 Isaac Matthews erected a log cabin near present-day Elm Street. In 1834 he married Anna Bogardus and they moved to their current location where he established his trading business called Bogardus & Matthews Grain Elevator on Main Street. The buildings that remain from this time include: the old courthouse (1851), located on Market Street; the Baptist Church (1853), located at 301 Elm St.; First Presbyterian Church (1861), located at 309 Elm St.; and finally, Elias McCabe’s grocery store (1901), located at 511 Elm St., which still stands today and is used as a library branch. During World War II, Elkton played host to Elkhorn Army Air Field during its months-long training period between 1942-1945 when more than 3,000 local residents served their country within its walls including over 1,500 men who worked at Elkhorn Arsenal. After the war endedelkton reverted back to its original status as a smalltown with only 10 residents while also experiencing growth with new businesses opening up such as National Tire Company (now tirerack) and Eastern Restaurant Corporation which operated for many years before being bought out by JCPenney Stores Incorporated in 2003. Today there are few reminders of those times other than periodic events such as antique shows held at nearby Burtonsville Community Center or annual Fourth of July celebrations hosted by the township government along with various golf tournaments staged throughout summertime
Elkton was a small town in the eastern part of Maryland. It was located about 20 miles east of Washington D.C., and had a population of about 1,000 people at its peak in the late 1800s. Elkton was known for its cheese production, and also for its apple orchards and other farming activities.
