Elkton is a town located in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 10,569 at the 2010 census. Elkton is home to the Elkton-Montgomery Regional Medical Center and the Montrose Shopping Center. The first settlers in what is now Elkton were white men who arrived from Virginia in 1784. However, this proposal met with opposition from some residents who saw this as an attempt to gentrify the town while leaving them behind financially and culturally speaking. On December 2nd, 2016 there was a mass shooting at Elkhart Air Force Base which left five people dead and dozens injured including 5 children who were playing outside when it happened
