During this time, Elmwood Cemetery was also founded in Elkton and quickly became one of the largest in rural Maryland. AHS students from Elkton attend various high schools throughout Prince George's County including Bowie High School which is located in Bowie City across from Interstate 95 just east of Interstate 495/MD-466; Harford High School; J&J Kennedy Middle School; Druid Hill Middle School; Eastern Mennonite University - Garrett Hall (now known as Southern Mennonite University - GarrettHall); Laurel Glen Elementary/Secondary Schools along with AHS student residences at: South Mountain Elementary/Secondary School (formerly Laurel Glen Elementary), Rockville Center Intermediate/Secondary School ( formerly Parkland Intermediate), Bethesda East Middle school (formerly Bethesda North Middleschool) serving grades 6-8 while nearby Valley Forge Junior-Senior High school offers pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade classes starting fall 2006.)
