The 1913 National Firearms Act restricted certain types of arms from being imported into the United States so S&W responded by introducing their "Troy" type stock which featured molded recoil pad material between the receiver and stock that reduced movement when fired/unfired specimens were handled

Consequently, many people relied on swords or spears to carry their firearms. One man who decided to take advantage of this situation was John Hargrave. He began making gun grips from Birch tree bark and other natural materials. Hargrave's first grip type was a simple wood handle with an axe head sticking out of it. The axe handle served as the primarycarryinghandle for his guns. However, over time, Hargrave developed more complex designs which featured metal fittings for better gripping power. Eventually, Hargrave became known as the father of modern handgun grips because his designs allowed users to hold their handguns much more comfortably than earlier versions did.
Elkton is a small town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 1,879 at the 2010 census. Elkton is part of the Wheaton-Glen Burnie–Haltom City, MD Metropolitan Statistical Area. The land where Elkton now stands was first settled by German immigrants in 1776. The first white settler in what is now Elkton was Daniel Boone in 1802. In 1808, John Armstrong founded the town of Clarksburg on part of the same land as Elkton and named it after himself. In 1815, President James K. Polk established an Agricultural Experiment Station at nearby Annapolis to promote agriculture and agricultural research throughout America. This area became known as "the Experimental Farm". In 1825, John Witherspoon organized a Methodist church here and named it after his father-in-law General David Dixon Wright (1768–1840). In 1830s and 1840s many residents were members of the Episcopal Church which had moved from North Carolina to start its own congregation here in central Maryland before relocating to Washington D.C.. The first black person to live in Elkton was Isaiah Thomas who arrived there with his family from slavery around 1860. After emancipation he worked for a time for local farmer Jno Averill Macomb but eventually lost his job due to a racist campaign against black people by white farmers during the American Civil War era. If you walk down Main Street today you will see evidence that two wars have fought right next door - WWII bullets still rest on buildings along both sides of Main Street while other properties are still full of anti-aircraft guns used during World War II; also evidence can be found including old cars and trucks all parkeded all over main street frontage...It feels like there has always been someone or something else here active & fighting - one can only imagine how this place would have looked if not for either world wars!

Elkton is one of the oldest places in Prince George's County and has been inhabited by humans since before present day. It was first mentioned in 1672 as "Elkin." In 1784, John Nicholson located a mill on the south side of the creek which became Elkton Creek. In 1814, Colonel James Hagerty built a house on an elevated piece of land that forms part of today's Elmwood Cemetery. The exact date is unknown but it may have been between 1814 and 1816 because that year he received a patent for 640 acres (2 km²) from President James K. Polk which included what is now Elkton Township. According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 2 square miles (5 km²), all land. As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 10,283 people, 3,895 households, and 2,551 families residing in the township. The population density was 559.7 people per square mile (241/km²). There were 4,484 housing units at an average density of 243.4 per square mile (98/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97% White; 1% African American; 0% Native American; 0% Asian; 0% Pacific Islander; 1% from other races; and 1% from two or more races.
