The Elkton Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1892. The first rifle range in the area was established in Elkton by the club. In 1898, the club erected a building to provide storage for their handguns and rifles. The first pistol range in Maryland opened in Elkton in 1907. In 1912, the club purchased land at present-day Park Road and Greenbelt Drive to establish a pistol range onsite. The property was donated by Mr. John A. Hogg of Elkton, MD. In 1927, the club acquired another piece of property at 145th Street and Greenbelt Drive to establish a rifle range as well! This property also served as clubhouse facilities until 1984 when they moved onto their current location near I-95/US 301 east of Elkton! In 1984, the Elkhorn Arms Manufacturing Company was founded adjacent to the rifle range on site! They continue to make all types of firearms including shotguns, pistols and revolvers today!
Elkton is a town in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. The population was 1,547 at the 2010 census. Elkton is located on the eastern edge of Montgomery County and east of Washington College. It is bordered to the north by Rockville Center, to the south by Gaithersburg and Silver Spring, and to the west by Takoma Park. The town's main thoroughfare is Elm Way. The first settler in Elkton was Nicholas de Haviland who arrived in 1784. In 1807 John Smith granted two tracts of land to Nicholas de Haviland and his son Hugh de Haviland for £10 shares of £100 each. In 1829 three men – Samuel Greggs, Ebenezer Morse and Thomas Hinton – purchased 2 acres (0.8 hectare) from John Smith for $2 per acre with no title deeds given as evidence of ownership until after incorporation as a town in 1834. In 1865 Elkton had a population of 350 people; it grew rapidly during the late 19th century with many new homes being built in what would become known as "Old Elkton". One such home was built by Isaac Myers who donated land for an agricultural college which would later be named Washington College; he also provided funds for construction of roads and other infrastructure that helped support his college's growth throughout its early years. As more families moved into Old Elkton over time, larger yards were required for parking lots or drives leading up to individual homes which significantly increased traffic congestion on Elm Way around this time period - one reason why much development happened along Pratt Street instead (later renamed Gallatin Street). Despite this issue, development continued unabated until sometime after 2000 when new residents began moving into Elmwood Village - eventually displacing most of the older residents in what had been once oneOf America's fastest-growing towns according to some reports (although some may have left because they found other areas more affordable or convenient). AIDTF has invested heavily in redeveloping Old Elkton over recent years having realized that while downtown may continue To Grow With You status quo there are many opportunities within Elmwood Village itself To Create jobs both now And Into The Future! This investment has included tearing down almost all old buildings making way For A brand New Urban Core Which Will Include alot Of Retail Space As Well As New Homes/ condos!!!

Elkton is a small town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 727 at the 2010 census. Elkton is part of the Washington-Baltimore-Northern Virginia Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlement in what is now Elkton was in 1768 by three brothers from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, when they founded a trading post on the eastern banks of the Potomac River. The town was chartered as a village on April 15, 1854, by order of Governor John H. Smith. It became a borough on December 14th of that year and an incorporated city on February 1st of 1911. The name "Elkton" originated from an Indian word meaning "hippopotamus." The history of Elkton goes back to pre-European tribal times when it was home to the Potomacas tribe and their allies including the Algonquins and Senecas. European Settlement began with Father Jacques Marquette's epic journey across North America in 1699 and his discovery of the Mississippi Valley which served as inspiration for English colonists to set up settlements along both coasts. Five years later, following Marquette's exploration and mapping expedition led by Captain Christopher Lloyd (1586-1648), English investors founded two permanent settlements - one near modern day Georgetown, Maryland; one near present day Elkton - within 2 miles (3 km) each other on October 13th 1699/1002 as part of what would become known as Lower Canada . These early settlers were motivated by wealth generated from land grants given out by King George III for services rendered during the French and Indian War (1763-1767). One such grant included 3 acres (10 km²) at present day Elkton where a trading post was established under British Colonel James Nicholson in 1768/69 while Nicholson fought against French forces during the War for Independence . In addition to its strategic location atop high ground overlooking navigation routes between points northward and southward along both sides of the river valley - this fortuitous site also provided easy access to water supplies necessary for sustaining life on these new developments – Elkhton soon developed into an important commercial center due not just to its proximity but also because it had enough population density resulting from its attenuated rural character: only 10 residents lived more than 2 miles (3 km) away from any public building or marketplace during colonial times! During much of this period there were no schools or formal government structures until after Confederation in 1867 when Lord Durham created Upper Canada with its own governmental structure including a Senate & House Of Commons . After Confederation however Elmtowns isolated condition continued until increased trade relations opened up along both UPPER CANADA's eastern border with SETTLERS OF AMERICA – MASSACHUSETTS generated significant amounts off commerce which allowed ELKTON TO WELL UPON ITS EXPANSION INTO A MODERN DAY CITY !!! The town of Elkton was founded in 1792 by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The community quickly grew and soon became known for its rich farmland, timber production, and manufacturing facilities. In 1867, the town was renamed Elkton after General George Washington's home, Mount Vernon. The name lasted until 1955 when it was changed to Elkton Heights in honor of then-mayor James H. Dorman.
