The town was first settled by Europeans in 1638 as "Holtzcroft" and then " Easton." In 1792, it was renamed after General James Easton, who had fought in the American Revolutionary War. The town was incorporated as a borough on April 14, 1876. On January 1, 1990, it became an unincorporated community within the city of Baltimore. As of the census of 2000, there were 6,591 people residing in Easton: 4,898 households out of which 36% had children under the age of 18 living with them,[2] 54% were married couples living together,[3] and 24% were non-families.[4] As for race makeup among this population: White alone comprised 38%of all residents while Black or African American made up 25%, Native American made up 2%, Asian made up 1%, and other races made up 3%. Hispanic or Latino residents constituted 9%.

Easton, Maryland is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Washington-Arlington-Alexandria Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Easton were traders and missionaries from Portugal who landed there in 1624. Jesuit Father José de Anchieta and his brother André founded a mission in 1638 and started trading with the local Indians. In 1798, John Forbes purchased land east of present day Easton Village for $1,000 as part of the western boundary of Baltimore County. He named it "Fordingtown" after Fording Slough on the Potomac River which he had seen while surveying his land. In 1801, Frederick Douglass located here when he was hired by General John Eager Howard to survey new boundaries for Baltimore County. This area became known as Douglass Heights due to its location between two hills that overlooks Fordsville (now Clinton). Douglass served as surveyor general for Baltimore County from 1802 until his death in 1845; during this time he surveyed much of what is now eastern Prince George's County including Easton and parts of Robert Taylor Township and Waldorf Township. He also acquired large tracts within present day Clinton Township (now Harford) County including most of today's College Park neighborhood and much of today's Bowie neighborhood east of I-95/Upper Marlboro Road. 2) From 1800 until 1865 there were only foot patrols patrolling this area because no roads or bridges existed then! Today there are over 450 law enforcement officers along with many streetlights throughout this community! As stated earlier, one reason why no roads or bridges existed then is because settlers did not want to invest in building something that would require future maintenance costs; they instead relied on horseback riding or walking across open country which caused numerous injuries and even fatalities when riders collided with trees or other obstacles!. Eventually a road was built through present day Easton village but it was never properly funded so it languished until 1865 when 2nd Lt Gouverneur Morris led a group consisting mostly cavalrymen under Capt Samuel Flowertot developed an improved plan to build a road from Frederick Town Hall northward through HarfordTown limits into BowieCounty – thus beginning what would be called 'The Road To Freedom'. 3) By 1865 The Road To Freedom had finally been built! Now all citizens could travel freely within their own county without fear Of retribution! This event marks an important milestone in Maryland history as it helped create personal freedom for all Americans regardless of race or religion!
