It is part of the Baltimore–Washington Metropolitan Area and is located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The town was founded in 1792 by John Easton and his family as a small outpost on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. In 1814, it became a port for goods coming from nearby Severn Valley and from points east. In 1885, Easton incorporated as an independent municipality. The town has grown steadily since then, reaching its peak population of 11,045 in 1990. Development in the area has led to increased jobs and housing opportunities for residents – making it one of the most economically diverse communities in Maryland. Today, Easton preserves much of its historical architecture including several contributing structures from both Dutch and British colonialism as well as early American erected homes dating back to 1792-1814. As one of only two towns in Prince George's County with preserved sections dating back to before 1800 (the other being Jessup), this makes Easton an important partner and source for heritage tourism around the county seat of Takoma Park in Northern Virginia* (*Although Jessup also has some significant colonial history - see " Jessup" below) The first settlers who arrived in what is now Easton were John Easton (1792-1814) his wife Catherine (née Hunnicutt) and their three children: Josephine (baptized January 15th 1796), John (died October 16th 1868), Elizabeth Ann(e). Their first home was built on land that they purchased from Chief Edward Thomas near present day Old Fort Road/Ulysses S Grant Boulevard just west of Utopia Avenue southeast *.* Although there are no records to support this assertion - conjecture suggests that they may have built their home here due to good hunting opportunities available from nearby deer woods(*!). A year later they moved south along present day King Street which would eventually become Morris Avenue(*). There were five more children born until 1830 when Catherine died suddenly at age 38 leaving four living children: Mary Jane(baptized May 14th 1801), Eleanor Augusta(baptized October 4th 1802), James Francis(January 6th 1803; died December 9th 1840) & Augustus Willmore Jr.(July 12th 1805; died March 14th 1865). One possible reason why mother Catherine’s death may have hastened family dispersal could be because her husband had been diagnosed with stage 1 thrombus while out shooting deer with his young son; however there is no evidence chronicled or documented this event*. After her death all but one child moved away with parents James Francis moving into what is now West Side Drive between King Street & Old Fort Road/Ulysses S Grant Boulevard where he started a cotton gin business known as “Willmore” company LLC still extant on current day property west side drive across lot line from original house where James F + Wife lived 10 years ago today [†]. Two years after her death brother Augustus W willmore Jr came down sick with fever & within hours passed away Jan 6 1840 aged 36 not long after becoming 3rd generation elder brother John willmore Sr took over responsibility for family estate affairs *.* Three years later sister Mary Jane married Drury Aiken who ran a small school near intersection future Mount Vernon Place& Johns Hopkins University Campus main campus north side so additional siblings wouldn’t haveto leave home during wartime 2*) JF bought house next door @ 120 E St NW vacated by school board member Mrs Evelyn Zimmerman Dec 20 1949-[†] Anna Chestnut** died Aug 25 1949 age 106 yrs old natural daughter last living child need not move so can enjoy life surrounded by friends she loved left behind also remains #eastontownhall #eastonsheritage
Gun lights were originally designed for use in nightvision goggles. The early gunsights used an illuminated Fresnel lens to provide a clear image of the target. Later versions featured a light beam that was focused by a lens on the front of the gun, allowing it to be fired without having to see the target. The first pistols using gunsights appeared in 1868 and they consisted of a small brass plate with a hole through it which allowed light from the muzzle to enter and illuminate the aiming point. These sights were usuallymounted on rifles using iron screws or rods and required some form of sighting device such as an aimpoint Finder or Meade Tritium scope. By 1904, all US firearms had been fitted with gunsights and this system became standard across most armies. As handguns became more popular, new designs were developed for them including compensating sights which corrected for windage and elevation changes while firing; laser pointers which could be used in lowlight conditions; and grenade launchers which used light rays rather than bullets to guide munitions into position. In recent times, some firearms have also been equipped with electronic devices such as lasers or sonar that allow users to fire projectiles either directly at their targets or remotely via computer control

Easton is a small town in Prince Anne's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 2,815 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Washington-Baltimore-Towson, MD Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent English settlers in what is now eastern Pennsylvania were Sir William Penn and his party of adventurers who arrived in 1685. They named their new land Pennsylvania after the king of England.Sir John Smith also explored and charted the area that would become Easton Township on November 17, 1814 while traveling with General James K. Polk during the American Civil War as an aide to General Ulysses S. Grant from December 12-15 in 1864 near Monett Courthouse on Route 711 east of present day Easton. Easton was platted on February 3, 1827 by Jabez Mason and James Dickson under patent number 5166 from Sir John Pugh as part of Prince George's County. The town served as a stopover for stagecoaches between Cumberland and Baltimore until purchasing its own road system in 1848 which lasted until 1954 when it became part of US 50 (now I-495). In 1860 Copley Brothers started a candy company here that still thrives today according to legend they founded Sugar Loaf Candy Company or something like that but no one knows for sure how it started! Easton prospered through World War II due to its proximity to military bases such as Westcom Air Base and Fort Meade which produced materials used by both Allied forces and Axis troops alike; examples include tanks, artillery pieces and airplanes! During Prohibition (1921 - 1933) booze flowed freely here thanks to early arrival of organized crime families led by Al Capone who built many illegal speakeasies along Main Street including Big Tony’s where Joe "the Barber" Pollo pitched his tent for business in 1925 After prohibition ended Prohibition style bars continued up until about 1990 when regulation mandated more tightly controlled liquor stores closed down most notably Mellow Mushroom which closed down following a fire in 1990 . Many people remember this historical event because one store reopened later called “The Duck” which specialized only in duck confectionery! In recent years there have been efforts made by some members of the community to resurrect these former speakeasy venues but so far no progress has been made

The name "Easton" is derived from Old English Eadwulf (or Egbert), meaning "place where the eagle flies." The community became a village in 1857 and later annexed to Prince George's County in 1876. In 1924, it became the seat of Prince George's County government when its predecessor, Harford County, was merged into the county. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 11,813 people, 4,936 households, and 3,984 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,519.3 people per square mile (521.6/km²). There were 5992 housing units at an average density of 592.2 per square mile (243.7/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 96% White American and 2% African American; Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0%.
