Easton is a town located in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. The population was 24,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Washington-Baltimore-Frederick, DC Metropolitan Statistical Area. Easton is known for its agricultural products and its role as a center of rural education. The first permanent settler in what would become Easton was George Patton in 1785. Patton built a small cabin on which he and his family lived until 1825 when they moved to another location near present day Westover. In 1826, General Andrew Jackson visited Patton's cabin while on his way from Winchester to Fredericktown and recommended the area for settlement. In 1830, four men purchased 1/4 acre (0.18 km2) of land at present day Westover for $10 per acre (0.50 km2). This early effort to establish an outpost failed because of lack of available water and transportation links between eastern Montgomery County and western Prince George's County.(1) In 1835, Captain John Rawles set up a post west of present day Easton with 10 individuals but it too failed due to lack of access to water or other resources.(2) In 1840, two men - James Fenton and William Hays - bought 3/8 acre (1 hectare; 0.27 acres) west of present day Easton for $5 per acre (0.24 hectares). This purchase marked the beginning of development in what would become Easton Township.(3) A mill was started by Elisha Dickinson in 1847 but it soon fell into disrepair due to competition from larger mills in neighboring counties.(4) A new mill was started by Samuel Morse & Co., also known as Morse Manufacturing Company, in 1850 but it too failed due to competition from larger mills in neighboring counties.(5) Morse Manufacturing Company partnered with James Fenton's son-in-law Daniel Webster D'Oyly Carteret to start Nott Mill in 1851 which became one of the most successful Small Scale Mills southside Baltimore ever!(6)(7)(8)'s across America during that time period!(9)(10)'s through hard work their neighbors put forth this endeavor we now enjoy our name “Easton”….and much more!!!!!

Easton is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 1,876 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of the Takoma Park area and borders Takoma Park to the east and Northwest on the east, Frederick to the northwest and Bowie to the southwest. The community began as part of West Potomac Township in 1847. In 1854 it became a separate town under its own government with a post office and school district. In 1870 it merged with neighboring Takoma Park to form one municipality. On July 15, 1907, Easton incorporated as an independent city. The city was dissolved on December 3, 2007 and its constituent towns became unincorporated again. The first settler in what would become Easton was John Dickens who built his house near present day Market Street in 1795-96 while working for Edward Sharpe and His Riflemen during the American Revolution. He named his property "Dickens Place" after his friend John Dickinson who served as Secretary of State under George Washington In 1847 Livingstonia (now known as Harford) County was created from parts of Montgomery and Baltimore counties; Easton was within Livingstonia until 1850 when it joined Frederick County which had been formed from parts of Carroll county In 1870 Gadsden & Company construction company moved their business from Baltimore to Easton where they erected two brick blocks at Naylor Road & Second Street that remain today standing as evidence of early development there On July 15 1907 Easton incorporation occurred when all 5 towns within Livingstonia were amalgamated into one municipality by virtue of Act No 7592 or "An act for organizing certain localities situated in Montgomery & Baltimore Counties into one body politic etc." This event marked an important milestone in municipal history as it solidified municipal control over areas previously operated by respective county governments
Easton was founded in 1753 by Captain John Easton and his family. The town grew rapidly, becoming an important center for trade and culture. In 1814, Easton was incorporated as a city. Today, the city is home to a number of cultural attractions, including the Easton Museum of Art and the Easton Playhouse.
