Cambridge, Maryland is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 10,684 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Baltimore–Washington metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1792 and named for Dr. John Harvard, an American physician and politician who served as the first Mayor of Cambridge (and later as a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts). The town's first store opened in 1795 and its first school in 1802; it became a borough in 1850. In 1874-75, Cambridge built the largest brick bridge in America when it constructed the Northumberland Road Bridge over the Potomac River between its east side and west side. The bridge had three spans: one across the river at Huntingdon Point; one across Poppleton Heights on what is now First Street (the current site of Aberdeen Mall); and one crossing Upper Middlebrook Road which forms what is now South Street (now Jones Falls Road). In 1903-04, postmaster general Amos Kendall replaced previous postmasters with his own appointees to ensure that all mail delivered to Cambridge would be properly censored by then-Secretary of State James Gadsden before being sent on to Washington D.C.. Kendall also established new rates for mail delivery within Cambridge/Baltimore Metropolitan Area including reasonable shipping on orders over $10 US when ordered through any post office or express service within Baltimore or Greater Washington D.C., as well as weekly airmail rates for residents of both towns combined equal to those provided by Amtrak along Interstate 95 between Washington D.C./Northern Virginia and Baltimore/Washington suburban areas during peak travel periods Aug.-Oct.. In addition he imposed daily restrictions on sending mails outsideof hours except Sundays during school weekdays from 7am until 3pm unless special arrangements were made with sender thru local superintendent Kendall also supervised construction of many park features such as Memorial Stadium where football games were played until after World War II while also building present day Office buildings on Fairmount Avenue including One Stop Shopping Center - still existing today

Today there are over 1,000 residents living in Cambridge according to 2016 census data In terms of architecture and design features, many notable buildings have been erected or replaced within the past few decades such as George Washington Elementary School (1941), Camden High School (1963), Emerson Intermediate School (1976), Phillips Exeter Academy (1985) and The New England Aquarium (2006). Many landmarks also feature local artisans who create items specific to their area such as soapstone carvings at Emerson Intermediate School or hand-woven baskets at Phillips Exeter Academy There are also several parks located within walking distance of downtown which include North Parkland Park which surrounds North End Avenue between Commonwealth Avenue and 5th Street N., South Parkland Park which surrounds South End Avenue between 2nd Street W and 3rd Street NW., Allston Center park located near Harvard Square on Allston Way between Boston Common Road/Washington Boulevard/4th Street NW., Fenway Park located near Boston Common Road/Washington Boulevard/Fenway Drive NE., Arlington Cemetery located east of Interstate 66 just off exit 71A off I-495 near Exit 73B
