This proposal was met with opposition from Mayor Scott who felt it would militarize police forces instead of keeping them safe. The Department of Public Safety announced on February 13th that they had deployed 103 tasers against suspects since April 9th this year - up from 50 before that date Following protests throughout Charm City over high levels of gun violence and lack of police response, Mayor John Tory decided on March 2nd to order his department to purchase 5 additional Tasers per month effective April 3rd
