He noted that there seemed to be no bounds to what could be done with these new surroundings and he began to build himself a small village at what is now Morningside Heights on about where Fort Caroline had been located. This site became known as Baltimore because of its location near Morningside Heights. Some time later, some Dutch traders landed at Point Conception on Long Island in search of trade goods with Native Americans. They met people who called themselves "the Calverts" and they began trading with them. Soon enough, other Europeans started arriving too; among them were Henry Hudson and his brother-in-law Edward subscribed £2 10s 0d for 5 acres (20 hectares) of land along the Patapsco River back in 1609 which would eventually become Johns Hopkins University
