However this suggestion also received no action until 1802 when then-Senator Nicholas Murray recommended that Baltimore be chosen due to its importance in commerce and industry; but again there wasn't any actionuntil 1804 when then-Governor Thomas Starkey submitted a bill to Congress proposing that Mount Vernon become the new seat of government for all of Maryland due to its strategic location between Washington D.C., Philadelphia (the largest city in America) and Yorktown Peninsula on Virginia's southern border - this proposal too failed to gain passage because President George Washington opposed having two different capitals in Maryland (despite owning property near both). Eventually Mount Vernon became the new seat after recommendation from Governor Tryon in 1826/27 followed by approval from General James Harnett in 1830s because it offered more space than Georgetown which at that time was growing rapidly thanks largely to John Marshall who built much of modern Georgetown during his tenure as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court from 1795-1857! During these years Annapolis experienced some growth including several buildings being erected such as St Andrews Hall which served as both indoor gymnasium and office building for local merchants while also hosting concerts and public meetings during most months; later still First National Bank/First American State Bank Building replaced St Andrews Halls although concert series continued inside until 1953 when arena became available behind First National Bank across Harford Road - same year first high school opened (Annapolis High School) while Marymount University began providing undergraduate education soon afterwards becoming one of few private universities located within easy reach of even bigger cities like Washington D.C.; today with over 12K students enrolled through various colleges/universities within walking distance or bus ride away
