The Annapolis Gun Show is an annual event which takes place in the city of Annapolis, Maryland. It began as a small gun show held at the old County Fairgrounds in 1967. Annapolis, Maryland is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 12,691 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Prince George's County and the largest city in the state. Annapolis is one of America's original capitals and home to both the United States Naval Academy and American University. The town had been settled by English colonists as early as 1607, when John Smith sailed up Chesapeake Bay to find a land route between Virginia and North Carolina. The town was founded on May 13, 1718 by Captain Edward Carson of HMS Peirce after he discovered land south of present-day Annapolis that had not been explored by other English vessels. On July 23, 1746 Bestowal Act passed by Congress approved establishment of an Academie des Sciences et Belles Lettres within limits prescribed by King George II for "that emulation may be had among men in learning." The first permanent settler in what became Annapolis was Nicholas de Montfort who purchased from Chief Powhatan 4 acres (1 km²) on which he built a house and began to cultivate corn. He named it New Kent House because his father also owned some land thereabouts. In 1749 Charles Lawrence bought from de Montfort three houses on First Street nearpresent-day Middle School before developing them into what is now known as Lawrence Manor; this property became part of Annapolis proper when Middle School moved to its current site in 1881. In 1785 William Penn acquired 10 acres (4 km²) north of present-day State College Road east of Centerville for $40 per acre (1/2 hectare). This area became known as Pennsborough Heights and later served as the nucleus of modern Annapolis Township. By 1800 only about 100 people lived in what became Annapolis proper while 350–400 people lived within present-day Centreville due to increased development around Princess Anne Island where Washington Monument now stands. With Britain'sDrawdown during the American Revolution many British citizens left their homes along with their goods behind but no such action was taken against Americans who remained living within their borders – this encouraged many new settlers to arrive over the next few years including 400 families from Giles County, Georgia who arrived February 1st 1803 on horseback under leadership of Colonel James Ketchum Jr.. Many more families followed over time including 150 families under Colfax’s command when he led an attack against 20 British soldiers at Garrett’s Ford on October 25th 1814…..During these years much activity took place around those young settlement sites: commerce grew; social life formed; churches were erected….In short there evolved here something like an embryonic community – one that would grow into Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore City government and all that follows………Many factors contributed to this success: good soil available for farming; convenient transportation links; access to markets at various points along [the] Eastern seaboard";[3] furthermore "…outstanding graduates from both colleges [at Yorktown], Georgetown University and Radcliffe College have become leading personalities in our society."[4] On November 3rd 1800 General James Clinton arrived with his army following victory over Anthony Wayne at Monmouth Junction thus becoming only second Ulysses S Grant after Andrew Johnson

As part of Johns Hopkins University's Downtown redevelopment plan beginning in 1990s, significant new housing projects were developed along both sides of the river near downtown Annapolis; these have helped revive downtown's economy and create new jobs opportunities for locals. The city has experienced several expansions over time: first becoming larger than it presently is through annexations (1924), then experiencing rapid growth following its incorporation into Maryland (1889), culminating with its current size and shape when it joined Montgomery County (1920). With regard to demographics, about 60% of all residents are white or Caucasian; 30% are black or African American; 10% are Hispanic or Latino; 10% are Asian/Pacific Islander; 5% are not affiliated with any race/ethnicity whatsoever. According to US Census Bureau estimates released in 2016,[2] there currently reside within the city limits approximately 264K people who identify themselves as being "non-Hispanic whites", "non-Hispanic blacks", "Hispanic Latinos", "Asian/Pacific Islanders" or other races/ethnicities not counted within those groups collectively.[3] Additionally,[4][5] there exist sizable populations who self-identify as Native Americans,[6][7][8] Arab Americans[9][10], Jewish Americans[11][12], people from various religions including Hinduism and Buddhism[13], etc., making up an estimated 25%-30% of all residents according to 2000 US Census data.[14] The City Council is composed only of citizens who identify themselves exclusively as individuals rather than political subdivisions such as wards or districts - this structure allows more openminded discussion among council members about issues which may impact everyone living within their boundaries but also gives them greater ability to address concerns directlyrather than having them addressed through higher levels government officials
