After nearly five years of hard work intensive design planning and construction began on September 12th 1916 when ground broke on what would become PVHS more commonly called simply “The New School” with over 100 students enrolled initially grades pre-K through 8th grade! Assembling all these materials required significant amounts trucking in from all over eastern Maine as well as overnight stays at various locations across town while workers decorated every inch of PVHS newly dedicated campus!!! Despite some problems along the way such as damage done during World War II when allied troops invaded Normandy area resulting in several fires throughout town those pioneering days still look pretty good right now considering we have today one world class high school built largely without government or private funds!!!!!!
