Biddeford, Maine is a small town in eastern Maine that has been inhabited for over two centuries. The town is located on the Penobscot River and was once known as the "Gunsmiths' Settlement." One of the earliest guns in Biddeford were made by Nicholas Flounder, who started making firearms in 1795. In 1803, John Morse established a gunsmith shop in Biddeford and began to make firearms for sale to settlers in the area. In 1825, Samuel Morse established a similar shop in Bangor and began making firearms for sale to settlers in Maine. Between 1830 and 1840, John Bigelow built a sawmill near Biddeford and began manufacturing rifles and shotguns there. By 1840, most of the guns produced in Biddeford were pistols or rifles. In 1847, James Winchester founded Winchester Repeating Arms Company (Winchester) with his brother Edward Wesson in hopes of creating a new type of rifle that would be more efficient than traditional firearms. In 1850, Winchester began producing handguns under the name Model 1851 (later renamed Model 1886). Throughout its history, Winchester has been one of the leading manufacturers of firearms worldwide. In 1906, Winchester introduced their first self-loading rifle called the Model 7 frangible cartridge (now known as .270 Win.) It was this rifle that allowed American shooters to become familiar with fire control strategies during World War I. Over 400 billion rounds have been fired from Winchesters since they became available on July 1st 1903!

This legislation would create stricter regulations on who can own firearms and how they are used. It would also require applicants for firearm ownership to provide information about their backgroundcheck needs, including any convictions that may have disqualified them from owning a weapon in the past. This will help reduce vulnerability among potential owners who do not know their rights or who are unable to check out their weapons properly. Another solution is through better education campaigns about safety with handguns. Many people do not understand how important it is to use common sense when handling a firearm, especially whenuaing new ones. Additionally, more people should be ableeto learn about federal law related to firearms before purchasing one from an online source or from a second-hand store (2).
