In addition to selling firearms-related t-shirts, the store also sells handguns, ammo and other Firearms products. The store's origins can be traced back to 1984 when four friends from Bangor founded a small business called "Firearm T-Shirts" together. At that time, the company was located in a small room at the back of their shop. The four friends who started the company were John Weimer, Al Purdy, Donnie Stout and Greg Hildebrandt. Over the years, Firearm T-Shirts has continued to grow and develop into one of the largest firearms retailers in North America. Today,Firearm T-Shirts operates out of 5 locations across Canada including Toronto (Canada), Montreal (Canada), Vancouver (Canada), Ottawa (Canada) and Calgary (Alberta). In 2016, Firearm T-Shirts celebrated 20 years of success with an anniversary celebration that included a variety of events such as appearances by industry luminaries such as Dick Stockton and Bob Kappelmeier and special sales items available only at their stores during specific months. Bangor, Maine is a small town located in rural Jefferson County, Maine. The population was 1,381 at the 2010 census. Bangor is known for its fishing and lobster industries. The town has a large number of historical buildings and sites that are open to the public. The first inhabitants of what is now Bangor were Native Americans who called the area "Bingamuns" meaning "place where everything grows." In 1821, Bangor was incorporated as a village and by 1827 it had reached a population of about 100 people. From 1830 to 1840, Bangor was the site of an important fur trade center due to its location on the Penobscot River. In 1862, during the American Civil War, Bangor sided with Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest and became one of his headquarters. Afterward, many businesses in town closed down because of wartime regulations limiting commerce to those supporting the Union side. In 1865, when New England seceded from America and formed its own country called Canada, Bangor remained an integral part of Canada until 1868 when it reverted back to United States rule. In 1875-76, Phase I of Completed Development began in downtown Bangor which included creating new streets and sidewalks as well as erecting new civic buildings such as the Post Office building (1875), Masonic Temple (1876), City Hall (1877), Congregational Church (1878) and Masonic lodge hall (1879). It is part of the Portland-Vancouver-Holland (PVH) metropolitan area. The first human being to live in what is now Bangor was Josephus Noyes who settled there in 1824. At that time, it was an unincorporated community located on the banks of the Penobscot River. In 1828, Bangor became a stop on the Underground Railroad and played an important role in helping fugitive slaves escape from slavery. In 1902, Bangor became one of three United States communities to sign a resolution recognizing the international day for peace, justice and development called "International Peace Day." Bangor was founded in 1695 by Sir John Penobscot and began to grow as a small community until it became a major town in 1768. In 1814, Bangor became the capital of Maine and continued to grow until 1907 when it was moved to Augusta.
