When delivered correctly, these gases can cause temporary incapacitation or death if breathed in deeply enough (> 25 ppm CO 2 ). However, pepper sprayers often miss target because users tend not aim high enough—particularly during tight quarters such as malls—-leading to increased injuries and fatalities (Hollenbeck & Hennenbeck-Goudreau, 2007). Pepper sprayers also emit sound waves that make it difficult for nearby bystanders to hear what is happening inside the room/space(Brummell & Susskind eds., 2009) which could lead to further injury or death if inflicted upon an unsuspecting victim. Firearms provide another option when it comes TO reduce fatalities among offenders by making them submit peacefully without inflicting harm onto themselves or other people present within range. Firearms hold various advantages over other weapons when it comes TO reducing fatalities; they are relatively easytouse–simply pull the trigger–and require little training for most individuals National Guard members included (O’Connell et al., 2016). Augusta, Maine is a small town located in Cumberland County, Maine. The population of Augusta was 5,844 as of the 2010 census. Augusta is part of the Bangor–Lewiston-Aitkin Combined Statistical Area. The first European to visit Augusta were two French traders, Pierre Le Moyne and Jean Duguay deMonts in 1604. A fort was erected at present day's intersection of State Road 7 and State Road 149 in 1795 by General John Howe after he won an engagement with the Indians near present day Brunswick. In 1821, Augustus became a state capital when it was chosen as the site for the new state Capitol building on land donated by Governor Nathaniel Hawthorne. In 1828, the Legislature moved from Brunswick to Augusta and built a new Capitol on Main Street between West Market and Constitution Streets. On July 1, 1840, Gov. David Richardson designated Augusta as one of five locations within Massachusetts for national military training purposes under what is now known as "the New England Military Training program". The first soldiers from Maine arrived at Fort Grafton near present day Auburn in late 1841 under Colonel Robert Treat Pownall and continued their training until they left for Mexico in February 1842. On October 12, 1865, during World War I (1914-1918), General James Fenton ordered all bridges over Penobscot River destroyed so that Allied forces could move more easily through the area without being hindered by obstructions like trees or rocks barricading crossings into Penobscot Valley. As a result of this order most riverside bridges across Penobscot were destroyed including those over the river atpresentday Augusta which had been reconstructed since war time using funds provided by Congress following World War I . According to censuses taken between 1910-1950 there have been no residents born in Augusta since 1880 making it one of America's oldest continuously populated towns . It has also been home to various businesses such as grocery stores (Sears) & lumberyards throughout its history including numerous mills which have closed down over time but continue to be preserved thanks to their location within walking distance of many restaurants & shops today
