Auburn, Maine is a small town located in central Maine. The population was 5,846 at the 2000 census and 6,269 at the 2010 census. Auburn is part of the Portland-Vancouver-Hillsborough, ME Metropolitan Statistical Area. AUBURN HISTORY: The first permanent settler in Auburn was Caleb Green who arrived in 1785. Green named his new place "Auburn." In 1806, John Addison erected a log cabin on what is now Main Street. A year later he built a more elaborate cabin on land that now includes State Road 129B. A store and post office were also established in Auburn around this time. In 1828, Drury Sibley came to live in Auburn with his family and started an academy there. His school would become one of the most important educational institutions in eastern Maine; it remained open until 1952. In 1840, Abraham Morse moved to Auburn from Bangor and began growing rice here. He brought over some of his rice plants so that he could sell them back home after harvest to help finance his immigration to America through the American Immigration Company Ltd.. After arriving in America he decided to stay and start a family which eventually included six children (two of whom died young). Soon after Abraham's arrival other families began settling down around him; by 1845 there were 10 families living permanently or temporarily near Auburn. By 1830 there were 3 churches with 250 worshipers resident within 2 miles of town limits! In 1841 Rev.[ Ezekial] White organized the Methodist Episcopal church which has been meeting continuously since then! About 1850 Phelps Dodge begins shipping salt from their mine at Penobscot Falls into larger ships for export up the port of Quebec City via New England rivers! This new industry caused many residents to leave town as well as businesses including Mr[?].\'s store being closedtered about 1850 due to low salt prices! This left much of downtown empty until Katrina destroyed most all infrastructure including power & water boards making it difficult for people/businesses to function without them! The community bounced back quickly however thanks largely to volunteer firefighters & others working together! In recent years Macklinny’s grocery store relocated across from High School (& stopped selling groceries altogether) making downtown even more NULL today than it once was! Downtown activity centers around two major streets:State Road 128E aka “Main Street” & Merrill Drive aka “Downtown Avenue” both directions offer access onto these streets allowing for extensive shopping options as well as gathering places for social events throughout the day or night! Today much of this activity takes place online or off road with few brick buildings remaining within sight outside city limits…SUBURBS OF AUBURN: Today much of present day Auburn resides within city limits but portions lying east/west of Main Street contain several suburbs including Williston and East Sideboro containing some 2,000+ households each!!! These areas have made great contributions not just politically but economically too!!!! They built incredible monuments such as The Great Harappan Cairn, which are still standing today! These structures are thought to represent one of the earliest examples of architecture! Throughout history, many different methods have been usedto assist people in moving around safely and effectively on two legs. One popular method is called “bipedality” or “two-legged locomotion”; this method uses feet alone to move forward or backward along a linear path. Another popular method is known as “multi-leg locomotion”; this involves using both feet and arms to move about independently. Ultimately, whichever technique is used depends on the individual and their specific movements needs!

Today, there are only about 350 people living in Auburn and many of them are retirees from nearby towns like Presque Isle and Bangor.
