In 1902, Dwight Denny developed his Dodge Caravan dealership here which later became one of America's largest car dealerships with more than 400 stores across North America including locations in Detroit Michigan and Toronto Ontario Canada among others

Auburn, Maine is a small town located in Cumberland County on the Penobscot River. The population was 1,100 at the 2010 census. Auburn has been inhabited by people for more than 500 years and is one of the oldest villages in New England. The town was platted in 1793 by Nicholas Goodrich and his wife Anna Maria Dodge. In 1805, John Greenough founded what is now Auburn as an agricultural center near modern day Lisbon. The village grew rapidly due to its location and good transportation connections. By 1850, Auburn had a school, Baptist church, post office, two stores and about fifty residents. The first railroad arrived in Auburn in 1855 and helped spur the growth of the town. The railroad connected towns along its route such as Lisbon with larger cities such as Boston, Worcester and Providence. This made it easier for people to get around and contributed to the development of the downtown area which contains several large businesses including clothing stores, restaurants and a bank. Today, much of downtown is still residential but there are also several commercial buildings dating back to when the town was growing quickly. In 1932, President Franklin D. Roosevelt visited Auburn while on his way through New England on his way to visit Pearl Harbor before taking office as US president. When he arrived at Auburn High School he stopped short of walking through town because it would have been considered improper protocol for a sitting president to be seen or photographed within sight of any public school students during their academic year (1932-1933). Instead he took a ride on local buses that brought him into town where he toured some of the businesses before boarding one returning bus home at 2 p.m.. Today though most students attend school outside of town either in Lisbon or Hallowell they share many common memories from their time spent living close by including built-in basketball courts inside high schools now used for soccer games; an annual farmers market held outdoors just east of Main Street; numerous summertime events like fireworks shows over Penobscot River; special days like Fourthof July; harvest celebrations like pumpkin picking/farming/dinner etc.; access to internet service available through Comcast cable television service throughout much of community making it easy for residents not only stay connected online but also find information about local events happening around them without having to leave their homes
